I've heard of this guy. He used to race cars or something. This place in this picture looks familiar. He would have been 102 today. I didn't know he ever drove at the speedway. I found this other picture of him in a Novi. Amazing when you consider he won 46% of the GPs in which he raced. I fouud this picture of him at Monaco, and just thought it was a fantastic picture.

That was what racing was like in those days...you could almost touch the cars...just think of the photos we could take with the cameras we have today!!!!

fangio looks like a guy you wouldn't want to pick a fight with! and that last picture is definitely a classic. it's almost surreal looking. duane

I know it was only an exhibition race at LBGP and he was well up in years, but I'm still proud to say "I saw him race". And believe me, he was racing.
Though I have always thought most highly of Jim Clark, truth be told, Fangio was the greatest. Senna and Schumie couldn't even carry their helmets.

I was there at the LBGP, too, and was thrilled to see Fangio throw that Merc around the circuit! As was said..."I got to see El Maestro"!
