Okay! I couldn't handle it NO MORE last night, I couldn't sleep because I was thinking about the 1974 Mclaren too much! So I started to play around with my AMT kit. So basically this is just a start of a FULL BLOWN step by step Work In Progress how to thread (Sponsored by 2lapsdown) I'm going to take a normal AMT Mclaren kit and transform it into an accurate 1974 Winner using the Indycals/Shapeways complete drivetrain/rear wing kit along with my own home made parts, that I've fiddle around for year with. I plan on making this one of those "humdingers" of a thread. Because there has never been a how to - step by step for the M18 until NOW! There will be so much info on this thread it will wear you out! This kit came out of the Indianaplis 500 HoF kit. Basically we will only be using about half of it and the rest of it will be thrown in the Mclaren "parts box" on my shelf. Last February I ordered the incredible 1974 Mclaren Drivetrain kit from Indycals. www.indycals.net/parts/indyparts/74mclarendrivetrain.htmlI first thing that needs to be done to the AMT tub is to add some putty in the center side, because in real life it has a bit of sharper bend to center, its not round like most people think. The lines marked in red are going to be cut off. I'm going to save the top of the seat later to possibly fabricate the fuel tank out of. Cut them off! Glue in the front bulkhead and grind off the notch in the front. For many years I've fiddle around with modifying these AMT Mclaren's and a few years ago I made my own resin nose. Its still not correct as I'll have to fix some stuff on it before I go on any further.....but I went ahead and super glue it onto the front. more later..........

The Machine: Damn I'm glad you're feeling better! Will this compare to "TLAMITE" (the longest and most interesting thread ever)? If you missed that, Calvin worked the Johncock '82 winner from the ground up. Ahhhhhh! at last I may correct my '74 winner... You go Calvin! Tim

Will this compare to "TLAMITE" (the longest and most interesting thread ever)? Ah! I'm going to try, but that ol' Wildcat thread is going to be very hard to beat! Too bad I screw up my pictures on that record breaking thread!
