Is there a pic you could post, Michael? I'm very interested but not familliar with the '67 Eagle. Can it be built from the '68 kit?
Thanks, Brian

Not sure if it can be built from the 68 - I think it would require serious mods - the nose for sure was quite different. If you've ever seen "Winning" Paul Newman is actually driving a 67 Eagle.

Anyone have any idea on a kit or modifications to a kit that would produce the 67 Eagle? And while I'm on the soapbox, I wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving!!

The IMC or Testors Lotus 38 would be the best starting point. Front upper A arm and lower wishbone have uniqe positioning.

...or maybe one of our aftermarket friends will do the kit!!!!! Really this would be a great seller as you could do a number of cars off of it. Sandy

It'll look extremely close to this, this is a 67 Eagle, that after running at Indy lost it's side tank and won the Riverside race with Dan at the wheel. These are Michaels great decals but in 1/32 scale, so now you know the origination! Chris

Thanks for the pic, Chris! Any chance we could get a shot from the side? Looks like a fairly easy bash from a Lotus as dale suggested.

I think that the upper A arms are swept back, not 90 degrees to the centerline of the tub.

This is the best pix of the side I can find at the moment, Hi Dale, yes I know the a arms should be swept back, this is a slot car on a spring steel chassis, made by one of my customers, on my personal car I did grind (yup spring steel is that tough) the arms to a more scale appearance. Tyres are too wide too! Chris

Thanks Chris! From that angle it looks like maybe the rear 2/3 could be built from the '68 kit (w/mods) and the long, pointed nose could be done from a Lotus nose. Definitely a do-able project!

OK time to fess up. This is a modified Lotus 38. I worked from a resin re-cast of a Strombecker Lotus 38. First I channelled the body a tad, moved the fuel inlets, recontoured the cockpit, and beaked the nose. The rear is real close to the 38, side walls need to be built around the exhaust/fuel injection opening (this Eagle has the Gurney/wesllake engine with fuel injection in the V, the other 2 Indy Eagles had the Ford DOHC as per the Lotus. The bodies are VERY similar because the were both designed by Len Terry. It's probable one of the easiest mods to do. This is a 18th scale model of Dans 67 car, there's a side fuel tank on the other side of the car, but you can see the similarities between this and a Lotus 38. Just to clarify things, if Michael has made Olsonite decals, they are for the 1967 Rex Mays Riverside winning car, (same as my slot car) I believe Olsonite did not sponsor any of the 67 Indy Eagles, they were sponsored by Wagner.
