Tomorrow, May 1st, is the 19th anniversary of the day we lost Senna. Was discussing with the moderators that with next year being the 20th anniversary that maybe some of the guys here might want to do a forum build. The idea is to have it open 5/1/13 to 5/1/14 and run it kind of like the offseason build-o-rama - any scale and any media as long as it is a Senna build. Tons of possibilities from Tameo, Heller, Tamiya, Fujimi, MFH, and others I'm sure.
Let me know your thoughts. If we have enough guys wanting to give it a go then we will green light the idea.

It's of interest to me. It just so happens I’ve been thinking of doing my own little Senna commemorative of his last victory, the 1993 Australian GP. I’ve just finished gathering all the aftermarket parts and decals for my build and have pieces of the Tamiya MP4/8 laying out on my workbench, ready for me to get started. You can count me in. Sure! I have a MP4/5B and MP4/6 that I have to build. I've been looking forward to building the MP4/6 just because its the nice high detailed Fujimi kit!

I have been stock piling parts and research material to do a Senna McLaren MP4/4 for well over a year, I would like to do it for this Forum build, because existing projects and the prospects of moving soon I cant guarantee it though.. It will be a super detail build and would take nearly a year anyway!! Chris

I have an extra Studio27 Porsche 956 short tail conversion to do a Senna build if that is acceptable. I just need to find the decal set from S27 to do the Newman car from '84. Nic

Toss me into this one as well!... I'll do not know what, but a simple OOB kit would be refreshing.

Anyone have any traction yet on your Senna build?
I was looking for my kit so I could paint it next week but think it might be buried in a box somewhere, maybe even in storage.... doh!! Started thinking eBay might have one cheap and there was nothing at all - oh well, I'll keep digging in boxes.

I've collected the engine, wheels, transaxel, and tires only. With my home move I haven't had the time to draw the simple plans for the RF81. I do have the WB and track measurements.

This Build has got my interest also. The time frame is probably spot on for me as I have quite a few projects in front of this one(as most of us do...eh?..LOL). Now...I've got to find a cool car to build.

I guess I'll post this here as a start, but will do a WIP in the other open wheeled cars section...I started to make the chassis of Senna's Van Damien FF. This was a test section to get the feel of doing the parts from the drawings... I must remember that the plastic has thickness and adds to the dimensions as the parts are assembled... I'll have to re-do this as it was too wide. Patrick

Just checking in on everyone. Last Friday was the halfway mark of this forum build and yesterday was the 20th anniversary of Senna's last F1 win. That last win was of course at the 1993 Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide, the last time Senna drove a McLaren.
For this forum build, I was hoping to do one of the cheap plastic 1/43 Heller Lotus (99T?) kits I have.... but they are boxed up and I haven't found it yet after looking for it quite a few times in storage. If I can't find it, I might have to pick up my Tameo MP4/8 European GP car instead, since I know where that one actually is right now.

We'd love to have you be part of the group build. I took my hopeful build out of the box the other night. It'll need some work!! Jordan

Just an FYI... I am in the process of becoming a Fujimi kit dealer. We don't have access to all the Fujimi kits, but I will have access to the following cars driven by Senna:
1/20 Ayrton Senna Mini-Kart 1993 1/20 Lotus 97T Renault - Portguese GP 1985 1/20 McLaren MP4/6 - Brazil GP 1991 1/20 William FW16 - San Marino Grand Prix 1994
The Lotus and Williams will have 'package deals' as an option that will include my decals at a discount. The McLaren will come with proper dayglo numbers (kit numbers are not-dayglo).
I expect to have kits in January
