My display case Several Stombecker Watson's Foyt and Sachs 61 again Pat Flaherty in the 1956 Winner Several years ago....My good friend Chris Etzel called me and his friends in Indiana were restoring and racing Strombecker Watson Rodsters...Better known as the 6 in 1 kit due to the many decal combinations provided on the decal sheet. When Chris came out to visit...he brought me my first little beauty. The Bowes Seal Fast Special Foyt won with in 1961. I was hooked. Over the next few years...Chris and I would bid on Ebay for every Strombecker Watson that came up. Between him and I, we drove the price of these little devils up. Neither one of us were aware that our good friend Bob Clidinst did the pattern on these cars back in the 1960's Bob built slot cars for many for the drivers back then...Whn I met Johnny Rutherford, I asked him about slot car racing...He laughed and said he still has his!...Wonderful world of model race car racing. Best to all Russ

Fantastic selection of slot-roadsters you have there Russ. Slot cars have become big business again, especially in Europe, you can now scourse correct wheels for those cars, and a company in Italy has released Several Watsons, the Maserati and Lotus 38's...resin and brass! www.electricdreams.com/Shop/slot-car-body-kits-slot-indy-kits-c-92_171.html, you'll find my cars listed on the same site too. Great looking cars, Russ! We do the same thing here with HO cars, altho we haven't done any Indy Cars yet. I have two Atlas Indy Roadsters that I will get around to one of these days. Chris - Your link doesn't work for me, could you please check it out? Thanks!

See what you started Chris?
I love racing the old slot cars....Today's slot cars are so much about blinding speed and total grip on the track....just hold it down and the magnets do it for you by keeping the car in the track.
The old cars are much more fun....and you can take your time and make them look good too. Sometimes, the old way is still the best way.
Best to you
Russ

Ahh...yes and no. Like everything else there's a retro movement. Take the magnets out! Now the car's uncontrolable, so install a new motor. They now have very small motors from DVD players installed in these things (I helped originate the whole thing), realistic speads, and small enough to fit in a Lotus 38 and leave room for complete cockpit detail...then of course there's the idiot (me) who installed a wing car strap motor into a 1/32 67 Coyote just for fun, I ran it once on a tri-oval down at Daytona...probably 60 mph all the way around! Pictures of this and several other creations (including the Lotus 38) are on my web-site: www.beardogracing.net/gallery.html

Chris - Beardogracing,
I LOVE YOUR CHASSIS!!!!!! Looks great for a few projects, (Like I need anymore...), I have in mind. Your cars look sweet also. I'd love to get my hands on a 1967 Coyote and I'd love to work out a race. too.
We have rules for racing the Strombeckers....They must be oiginakl.....bodies, tires and motors....No cheating is allowed. No souped motors, no new, powerful magnets. Just 45 year old slot car racing technolegdy......Slip n slide as you might say. You have to driver them.....Even though you can't mess with the motor, you can "hydro-tune" them....and it works!
Best to you
Russ
