As a counterpoint to Russ' great thread about what made your modeling better or more fun, I offer this idea: What common method, material, etc. do you NEVER use (or hate to use, or haven't mastered) that you wish you did. My most blatant example would be the airbrush. I've never taken the time to really learn how to use it and I'm sure my models occasionally suffer for it. I continue to use spray bombs exclusively. Shake, spray, clear upside down, done. Always hated to clean that darn airbrush! Someday I'll jump in and learn how to use the thing!

Brian....
Darn you! Keep it positive darn it....But since you brought it up....
I hate using an air brush..So much time and money, but....sometimes its the only way to go. I still have a collection of spray cans with laquer...Good stuff. The two steps I dread with any model are...Decaling and clear coat. I have to say, Future Floor Wax is the best clear coat I have found so far and it doesn't "yellow". But putting on decals is were I start to get difficulties with my models. Brain...keep it positive guy!
Best to you
Russ

That oddly manufactured 1970s McLaren kit. The wings don't fit right, the two-piece tires suck, the turbo sucks, the suspension sucks, and the instructions need a translator to decipher. Other than those little details, I love this kit.

See, Russ, you illustrated my point exactly! I LOVE to decal, and since discovering Future, I've never had a problem with clear-coating. I figured my post would bring out all our pet peeves and we'd inspire each other to try a different technique or material on our next build. All these negatives will HAVE to result in a few positives, won't they?

P.S. - Gregg, please send any unwanted McLaren kits to me!

This is easy for me- those darn polishing kits! Here we go, 600 grit, then 800, 1200, 1800, 2400, 3600, 5000, 10000 and then "Oh S**T! I just polished THROUGH the paint to the primer!" Go back and start painting the model all over again. Sandy

P.S. - Gregg, please send any unwanted McLaren kits to me! LOL, Nice try. As much as I hate the modifications needed on these beasts, I worked too hard to find them, mostly from that 3 car Hall Of Fame set. I think I have about 3 left. And I keep trying to win more of them on Ebay, so far without any luck.

Worst part? I think my problem is sorta like Jordan's. I want some models to come out so perfect (since they really mean a LOT to me) that i don't start them, or they do not get finished in a timely fashion. Mongo
