Hi, thanks for the invite. There are some great boards out there, but an Indy-dedicated one is a great idea. I started building the AMT/Monogram kits in the mid-80s, then took quite a hiatus until about four years ago, and now I have way too many of those kits waiting to be built. And I discovered the resin kits! And Indycals! I'll never have enough time...
As for favorite driver, that's an easy one. Lone Star JR, who also happened to win the first race I ever went to in 1980.

Well let see.
I'm 48 and I've been married for 28 of those years and have 3 kids (22, 20 and 14). I'm a former coach/teacher and present Technology Director for Grove Public Schools.
I'm the Commander of the local Civil Air Patrol squadron and hold the rank of Major. Lots and lots of degrees one of those being a ThD hence the nickname.
Rick Mears has been my favorite drive since forever! I started building in the early '70's took about a 15 year break and have been at it ever sence.

Greetings everyone. I already know some of you here, and I'm sure some of you know me, but for the unitiated, my name is Michael and I live in Colorado. I fell in love with Indy when I was 5 years old and drove past the Speedway while passing through Indy on a family vacation. My first racing hero was Swede Savage, but it was short lived as the only race I recall watching with him in it was the 1973 500. I've been following the sport since then - Gordy became my next favorite as I felt bad about how we won the 500 and he always drove such cool looking cars. To this day Gordy's 1982 500 win is one of my all-time favorite memories in life. My love for the sport is pretty equally divided between Indy and F1. Other favorite drivers over the years have been Mario Andretti, Rick Mears, Al Unser Sr., Emerson Fittipaldi, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Buddy Lazier and Fernando Alonso - although his stock has gone down dramatically this year. I attended my first Indy 500 in 1985 and haven't missed on since. For those of who who are familiar with my company Indycals - you may have noticed some website problems the past few months - rest assured we're still in business and have changed my web address to indycals.net - everything is running fine there. My other passion is photography and I moved from Michigan to Colorado in 2005 to spend more time photographing the western US. In addition to landscape I also do motorsports photography. Feel free to check out some of my images at www.pbase.com/indyboosler and mportaro.zenfolio.com/ (the later is still a work in progress) And I'd like to thank MikeB for setting up this forum

Hello my name is Gerald, I am 44 years old. I have been building since 1968. Being from Cleveland my all time driver would be Bobby Rahal. I like to build odd one of a kind conversions and scratch builds. I am currently building a 1/20th scale Chevy Indy V-8 for the Tamiya T9300 Lola. With this i am also backdating the body to a T9200, Also working on #1/12 Miller Genuine Draft decals for same. Does anyone think these parts should be used as masters and reproduced? Well thanks for listening!!!

Hello, my name is David Green. I am 45, married for 20 years and have 2 kids (12 & 14). I live in Shreveport, Louisiana and have lived here all my life. I work for a small oil and gas company as a computer draftsman. I watch just about any kind of auto racing, but my passion in the Indy 500. As a kid growing up in Louisiana, I would dream of going to the Indy 500, but it seemed so far away, I wondered if I really would ever go. Finally in 1996 I became friends with a man who had been to every Indy since Mears first win in '79. He was mad about the IRL/Cart split, so and he gave me his tickets to the race that year. Since then, I have been back to every Indy. I have been making models on and off, since I was about 7. I build most of mine pretty much straight from the box, except for using Indycals and some wiring every now and then. My favorite drivers where the Indy Legends, Mario, AJ, JR, Gordy and Unsers. Mario was the one I usually pulled for the most. Anyway, I look forward to seeing everyones new builds and I have quite and few that I hope to be finishing up soon and will post them when I am done. Thanks for setting up the site Mike.

Howdy Everyone!
My name is Russ Bundy and I am a school teacher in Southren California and I have been force into retirement from model building due to a stroke I suffered on February 28 of 2006. I have tried to build several times to only meet disastous results. I still know all teh tricks and know how, so if you have any questions I'll be happy to try an answer them. The loss of the use of my right hand has been a total pain in thed rump! I used to write about how to build Indy Cars for the old Motor Racing Replica News which was a good magazine for it's time. Not enough Indy Cars for my taste. My favorite Indy Driver is....of course, A. J. Foyt. I know he can be difficult, but I have seen him be very nice as well. I know Dan Gurney and Parnelli Jones and have worked for both building models of thier cars and other things. I used to know Rodger Ward real well and Troy Ruttman too...Both were nice gentelmen of Racing. Rodger Ward was everything you would hope a former Indy 500 Winner would be. A great guy! My favorite Indy Moment was Foyt's fourth Win in 1977! I was so sure that I bet my US History teacher that he would win in frot of the whole class and was happy to pay for the party the following Friday. I have far too many favorite kits to mention. I have to say. Bill Jorgensen's its amd Lance Sellers kits are really good! Take your time and do it right! Oh, by the way....The frame rails from te old MPC 1928 Limcoln are what you use to start the Marmon Wasp. Thanks!

Hi - I'm Brian and I build an Indy Car occasionally and collect them constantly! I'm 48 and have never seen an Indy Car race live altho I did attend all the mid-70's Dirt Champ Car races at the Syracuse mile. Great shows! Anyway, my favorite driver is indicated by my user name, another versatile driver with grit and determination, who knows how good he would have been if not for that accident. My main modeling focus right now is vintage NASCAR, mainly '60's & '70's, and short track stock cars (raced one myself for a few years). I'm on Randy Ayer's forum as "spooker". This forum sounds like it will be a great place! Russ Bundy, now there's a guy that knows his Indy Cars! I have every issue of MRRN and always looked forward to Russ's articles.

Ok Ziggy on the photobucket page on the right hand side of the page is a box that has the fowling Share URL - Email & IM Direct Link - Layout Pages HTML Code - Websites & Blogs IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards Copy the code from the one that says Direct Link - Layout Pages in this case. i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj240/Ziggy48/MCLAREN04.jpgcopy and place that in between the img tags like this (img)http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj240/Ziggy48/MCLAREN04.jpg(/img) IMPORTANT- in the example above i used Parenthesis ( ) instead of the brackets so that the example would show up. Had i used the required brackets you wouldn't see the example as the board would try to post a non-existent picture and you would instead be seeing the dreaded "Red X" or broken picture link icon. To post pictures the img tags MUST be in brackets [ ] and this is what you should get great looking McLaren by the way

Hello,
I'm Patrick. I'm a confirmed Tifosi and Grand Prix modeller that takes occasional forays into USAC Indy models when related to a F1 driver. I'm working on two cars at the moment, a Brabham BT12-Offy and a Brabham BT32-Turbo Offy both driven by Jack Brabham. I work in 1/24 scale and have been building model racing cars for over 25 years. I am also working on a McLaren M19C, BRM '65, BRP-BRM, Ferrari 1512, and my newest project is a F3 Cooper-BMC. I'm a bit crazy and work on multiple projects at one time. I'm trying to finish a grid of F1 cars of 1964 for the NNL/West. Grazie Mille!

Hello everyone. My name is Josh (obviously). I am 32 and live in Indiana. I primarily do CART reynards. I have done about 20 of them (pictures are forthcoming). I now have three kids and a serious PS3 addiction so I don't do as much modelling as I used to. I was always a big fan of the PacWest team in CART so those are a couple of my all time favorite cars. Glad to be here and I look forward to chatting.

I will finish my *intro*.
Like Russ and Dr. Dave (whom I have known for quite q while!) I am teacher/coach. This is my last year! Retiring July 1.
I built my first race car model in 1958 an AMT '58 Ford HT. Several other models before that, but it was my first *racecar*! I built my first F-1 in 1959-60. A Strombecker D-50 Lancia, IIRC. I have several of the Strombecker and Merit kits some of which I am working on. I had most of the Indy car kits in the '60s. Favorite Indy driver? A.J. Foyt, Jr. Other open wheel favorites were Jimmy Clark, Jackie Stewart, Swede Savage, and Juan Fangio. Odd mix, I guess! LOL!!
I am looking forward, greatly, to improving my skills and sharing the hobby with all of you here. Bill Little

Hello everyone. Glad I found this place. I'm Eric and as you can tell by my user name I an a huge Buddy Lazier fan. I have been building indy car models for over 10 years now. I have had the pleasure to meet others from the hobby over the years such as Bill Jorgenson, Lance Sellers, Michael from Indy Cals ( best Indy Car decals out there) And just a few Weeks ago Fred Lombardo. Without guys like them it wouldn't be possible to built some of the stuff we do. I think I am the last person to place a model in the Indy museum display. I did the 97 winner there which is to most currect winner in the display.
