Way to much stuff coming out all at once for my pocketbook. Am going to have to sell some collectables to keep up! Anyone want to buy a "MULEWEED" CART era neon light? It even works!

That's awesome! Its amazing since about 2008 how the Japanese model company's have really cranked out the F1 kits like crazy! There was a time in the mid 2000's when nothing ever came out.

Price is decent, at least! Brian Which has some wondering if it's curbside, which IMO would be a huge blunder by Fujimi.

Yeah maybe a curbside, I was wondering how they would do the gearbox driven fan but You can be assured Model Factory Hiro will offer a Transkit for much more than the kit! I dont know how scratchbuilt this but its excellent close enough to use as reference!! Chris

If it is a curbside then why bother getting it then.....you know the main attraction with this car is the detail under the bodywork. It would be a huge disappointment if they dont do full detail.

I'm hoping that Fujimi is planning on releasing variations of the BT46 BT-46 "surface cooling" BT-46 South Africa color scheme BT-46 post South Africa color scheme BT-46 Brazilian GP (Piquet) BT-46B "fan car" BT-46C relocated radiators
Fujimi seems to like to do variations on its kits. I'm hoping this is what they have in mind for the BT-46 platform.

BT-46 South Africa color scheme BT-46 post South Africa color scheme BT-46 Brazilian GP (Piquet) All of these can be done with the Tamiya kit and my decals. BTW, I plan to offer early and late season stripes for Lauda and Watson - right now it's only the early season stripes on my website. (Piquet has the late season stripes.

Yes, I have a copy of your BT-46 South Africa sheet. I will always prefer the Indycals version of the decals because yours are opaque. I just noticed that Fujimi has announced a second version of the BT-46B kit. This will be the Watson version of the car. Same parts, just a different set of decals. I was looking at the current list of F1 kits from Fujimi and I suddenly noticed that the Sauber C30 comes in a number of variations (and prices). One version of this kit comes "w/engine". I'm wondering if they intend to do the same thing with the BT-46B. Rusty

I got my Fan Car yesterday. It is a VERY nice kit and it comes with a nice chrome-plated engine. Similar, but better detailed than the Tamiya kit, but there are slight size differences that would make mixing and matching not as simple as swapping parts, but not so difficult that it wouldn't be worth it.
I do have one big complaint about the kit though. Fujimi had the sense to mold the body in white, which is good.
But then they went and molded the tub in black, which totally defeats the purpose of having the body in white!
Fujimi does some really great stuff, but it seems like for every great thing they do, they do something incredibly questionable. Classic example on their McLaren MP4/6, they chrome plated the engine despite the fact that the engine was BLACK and they included Michelin style tires. I would never let their quirks stop me from buying a kit, but sometimes it just leaves me scratching my head.
The fan car kit will be a great starting point for doing other versions of the BT46, such as the French Grand Prix (different area behind the driver's head from the standard BT46) and the Surface Cooler version (which shares a nose with the Fan Car). I will be doing a surface cooler decal sheet to use with the Fujimi Fan car for those who want to do the conversion.

I was wondering about the detail that comes with this kit. RE: Surface Cooling Car - I won't be surprised if Fujimi has plans to do the Surface car using Fan car pieces. Rusty

Thanks for the reference Paul.
I really like this car and the molding detail looks real good. I'm not totally sure about why they molded some of the parts separately though. I agree with Michael concerning the black chassis that is also part of the exterior side pods while the other parts of the body are molded in white (?). It should've been white as well.
With Michaels build and photo quality, I'm really interested in watching this build.
There are actually some real nice builds going on this month, it must be spring.
