I have started Gary Doucette's kit of the 1938 winner. Indycals gave me some great painting tips. Now I need help with how to assemble the front end/suspension/steering/etc. Can anyone help with a straight on picture of this car or one that is similar? I can't seem to find one. I am not sure how or where to mount the springs, shocks, etc. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Jim

Jim, I wish I could help. I love Gary's kits, but they are lacking in detailed instructions I know I sound like an "assembler" but it's hard to build when you can't understand what's going on. I need visual aids to guide me.

Due to your comments and postings over time, I realized I needed more and better books to do research on some of the 1930's cars so, at my wife's suggestion and help, I was able to locate and buy Jack Fox's "The Indianapolis 500" (brand new and original price) and a second edition of Mark Dees' "The Miller Dynasty (like new and less than $200) on amazon.com. On page 138 of Fox's book is a 1941 picture of Cliff Bergere in the Roberts car. It is a front-on shot from the right side that gives me enough of a visual reference to see how the front suspension might work. If I weren't so technologically impaired, I could post it here. Sorry. Hope this helps someone. By the way, Gary called me twice over the weekend to share suggestions and give me guidance building this kit. Jim

Thanks, Sandy. I have that book along with the rest of the Ludvigsen series. They are first rate and very helpful. I guess I am just a visual learner but it really helps to be able to see a good picture. Jim
