I have 1956 and 1958-62 Jorgensen Watson Roadsters. I'm just curious about any tips any of you have about building these. I'm really interested in knowing how you attached the axles. Did you scratchbuild a subframe for the front axle? Just hoping some of you can give me some tips. Thanks a lot! Tim Weinschenker

Hi Tim, there are many much more experienced modelers here than myself, but here is how I did it. I superglued a piece of balsa wood into the rear cut out for the rear axle and then I filed it with a round file so that a piece of 1/8' brass or aluminum tubing would fit it at the correct height,I then superglued the tubing to it. You can then fit smaller tubing through it. This tubing by the way is meant to be telescoping. You can then fit any size tubing into it by stepping it down in size to accomplish any size axle you might want. The front is a little more complicated aspecially if you are using spare parts from the AMT Watson kit as i did, but the principle is the same. just remember that the suspension is offset to the right. Hope this helps. Regards, Howard Weaver.

Howard: Thanks for the tips. I'm going to study this problem some more. I'm hoping some more approaches come across as well. I really don't want to use any AMT Watson parts. I only have two of these and really want to use them as full kits. I'm also assuming that you used the Clindinst drawing that Bill includes in the kit to help determine the proper ride height. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Tim Weinschenker

Hi ya Tim!!!
The Watson Roadster is one of my favorite Indy Cars of all time. I have built many different kits of it as well. If you don't have and would like an article on how to build one, drop me a Personal Message and I'll take care of you.
Howard was correct about one thing, and I use them too. Bob Clidinst's drawings are the Bible for building a Watson. Bob has had many conversations with A.J. and he has forgotten more than most will ever know about the Watson's. As for the AMT Kit, DrDave,m a member of the form has a detail set that will turn the AMT Kit backwards to the 1959-62 cars and its very good...And you can get more AMT Watson's on Ebay too...cheaply.
Best to you
Russ
