I see that Norbert Haug is out at Mercedes Benz and will be replaced by Niki Lauda. Given Lauda's track record in the airline business and the Jag F1 team, I wonder if Hamilton is on a suicide watch. Take Care Craig

I wonder if Hamilton knew this going in or if he got blindsided?

I think he was blindsided, Lauda is a tough nut. Didn't he throw Bobby Rahal out of Jaguar ? in the early 2000s ? Rahal almost got Newey over to Jaguar, til Ron Dennis convinced Newey to stay. I believe Newey was involved with the Truesports Indy opertation in the 80s, I could be wrong.

The MB team certainly has been a disappointment. I think Braun was genius to sell after they had a career year. I like Lewis so I'd like to see him to be a good situation.

Gav, I thought of Rahal as soon as I saw this news. Newey was much sought after in Indy cars for years until he went F1. Since F1 is as much about egos and money as it is racing, this should be interesting.

Oh I agree completely, I don't see how Lewis and Lauda will get on. I understand Lewis fell out of sorts with Ron Dennis, who is also a tough person to get a long with, and right fully so. Rumors persisted for years in the F1 garage that people in F1 would not take Ron seriously because of his beginnings in F1 as a mechanic. Even after being a successful owner/team manager of McLaren. I respect Niki Lauda for his accomplishments in F1, but his tenures at Ferrari and Jaguar years ago did not culminate in anything special if memory serves me correctly.
This certainly will be intersting. Wonder how long Ross Brawn will stick around.

If he runs Brawn off it could get ugly
