Finally a 50's/60's era restoration with the real rubber hanging on the wheels! Not those godawful radial/modern tread pattern/usually too wide and not tall enough for the rim pieces of dung... While I'm at it, most of these otherwise beautiful restorations are done with 3 inch shoulder belts(vs. 2 inch) and removable steering wheels, neither of which came along till the 80's. Also, I want to puke when I see someone driving them with full face or even modern open face helmets. Is it a requirement at these vintage events to have current Snell certified helmets when on the track? Lets face it, these cars are not going to be driven fast enough anymore to hurt somebodies feelings, much less their rump... That said, many thanks to ALL who have posted these car show pics...

Well, Bill...
About that rubber - I was going to mention when I posted the photos. The owner was telling a story that the only tires he can find nowadays that fit his car are tractor tires. I think he mentioned John Deere.
He said they wear out awfully quick on the track. ;D

As to the tires, I believe it is a matter as to whether or not you plan on driving the car! ;D I know from other forms of restorations that vintage rubber is next to impossible to obtain and costs just a touch less than the National Debt when you do find them. At the Darlington Museum, there are a few cars riding on vintage rubber, but it is not period correct. (a fact that cost a friend of mine some embarrassment)
I agree, I love to see a car done period correct, but it isn't real feasible sometimes. Mongo
