My attempt to backdate a Monogram Kurtis to a 500B.






Indycals decals. Tamiya black and clear
Wheels and tires and steering wheel are from Tim Jones.
Learn from my mistake on this one. Either the first or second clearcoat went on too heavy and I got some minor decal wrinkle and bleeding. I usually clearcoat with Future, but went with the Tamiya this time. Live and learn.

Really nice job, Craig. I really like your modifications of the suspension. How did you get the nose to look so accurate? The black and white really contrast and jump out. Whose wheels and tires did you use? The reason for my questions is I have several of the Monograms and am tempted to do some of the other Kurtis versions.

Thanks, Jim. The wheels&tires are from Tim Jones (alwaysindy). I cut off the kit nose, glued on a sheet stryene plate, the rest is some bondo and a lot of sanding.

Clearing is a tricky thing and just when I think I have it down it bites me in much of the same way. If I had a dollar for eveytime a clear coat has me throw up my arms and cry...

In this case however I think it makes the car look race worn and actually more realistic. Nice work!

I love your attention to detail.
The exhaust is pretty wild....very neat.

When you use tamiya clear its best to go with very light coats especially over Flo Red.
