I get a lot of request for this car and plus I like it a lot as well. So I've made up my mind that I will do this car after the 1981 Wildcat is produced. What do all you guys think?

Count me Calvin, although this one I might have to build in road course configuration. When you are ready to get into it a bit, let me know as I have the side elevation in AutoCad and can plot it out for you in 1/25th scale. Glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to be thinking of models again!

I will buy this. I was just thinking about this recently, how there are no models of the early Mario Lolas.
And I would love the .dwg file of this.

Hi Calvin
I am currently building this car in 1:43rd scale. I am basing my build on original Lola drawings that I got from the cars' designer Nigel Bennett back in the 80s. I also have a ton of photos that I took in the Lola workshops back then as well as detail shots of the Budweiser car. All of this I will gladly send you if you are interested - just let me know!

Can also do a Domino's version. Actually, two different Domino's cars - the car at Indy was black with red, white and blue stripes at the rear. Very cool looking IMO. Later in the season the car was the normal red, white and blue Domino's color scheme. Forsythe Racing ran a Skoal Bandit car for Corrado Fabi (brother of Teo) in the last few races of the 1984 season, but that is about as many versions of this car that are possible. Ah well, Dale Coyne ran one with stock block power and a different rear body to accomodate the engine in 1985, but that is a different story...! Bo

Sounds great! I want to someday build this car in 1/18th like I did Mario's 85 Beatrice Lola but would still be in to buy one in 1/25th.

Can someone shed some light on the '84 500 for me please, I understand March had an almost complete monopoly as the chassis of choice at the brickyard in 1984, and according to the '84 500 starting lineup courtesy of the IMS site, only (2) Lola chassis started the 84 race, Kevin Cogan was in an Eagle/Pontiac. So my question is, if only 2 Lola's competed in the '84 "500", one was Mario's, the other I understand it, was Danny Sullivan's Hot One Domino's car. But the qual pic for Sullivan's car doesn't look like a Lola, is the car in the qual pic the DSR-1 Cart Champcar? pic:

I'm glad to see you making future plans Calvin! I would definately be interested in the Lola. The 84 and 85 are very similar. So I would be interested in multiples, especially if Michael is making decals!

Yes the car in the photo is the dsr-1 , it did not race in the 500. Calvin , I am hoping to have some factory drawings soon of the 84 Lola, if they do materialize, you are welcome to use them (I do have the 85 lola drawings). Lance

I would like to do both versions, Road Course and Speedway, if possible with one kit.... The interesting thing about the Lola T800 is the Superspeedway car had long tail/shallow-tunnel setup. The superspeedway aerodynamic package required a completely different rear suspension layout. The Turbocharger was located half-in, half-out of the bellhousing. (just like the AMT T8800 kit) lowering the turbo like that really helped in the center of gravity.

Yes, only Sullivan and Andretti used Lolas in the 1984 Indy 500.

As I said, I do have a side elevation of the T800 in road course configuration. If any of you that have more complete drawings want to share them with me, I can bring them into AutoCad and supply Calvin with hard copies in 1/25th scale.

I remember watching that car race in person and noticed the tunnels went all the way to the back of the car past the rear tires.

thanks for reposting. site is a WIP I'm building for John but he put up the best of the T800 photos. Let me know if you need decal help or anything, I'm sure he has the artwork left over from the restoration.
