I'm with Michael. It is time to give him a vote of confidence or announce some sort of contract extension. This is getting old quick and I fail to see how anyone in open wheel can benefit from this instability.

Anybody want to guess what the next announcement will be? I think it's going to get worse.

Disappointing. I'll reserve comment on the future until the next step is revealed but I thought RB deserved more time after doing an admirable job these last three years. He wasn't perfect but he was really solid and I believed in his vision being a positive direction for the sport.

I'm going to be Mr Unpopular here. This does not suprise me at all. RB walked into a job he knew nothing about, he had no backgroung in racing, and made promises he could never keep. He never looked or acted the part. The Hulman George sisters care nothing about anything but money. That means putting butts in the seats. For lots of reasons, he did not do it. The car owners, in general, are the same. They want road and street racing because that's what the "buy a rides" can do, and crash damage is usually cheap to fix. Nobody seems to care what the fans want. They don't even know, or care who the fans are. I'm no fan of Tony George, I think he let us all down, but I'm of the opinion that Randy was not much better. I don't have the answer, but until we put some American drivers in some non cookie cutter cars we are never going to see a stable series. Take Care Craig

I disagree Craig. Indycar was moving forward and getting better. Randy accomplished more in three years than FTG did in 12, Just my opinion of course. I now feel like I can't trust the IMS board. This from yesterday! “Randy has not been terminated and his employment status is the same as it was last week and last month,” said Doug Boles, IMS' VP of communications. “At this point, Randy is not fired. That is the case in the moment and in the future.” And this crap today? Face it guys. TG is back... ***cut the political remark & would do the same regardless of side -Jordan***

Reminds me of February of 2008 ChampCar offices: 9:00 am Nothing Going On!! Please keep working on whatever you were working. 10:00 am Business as usual. Please keep working of your current projects, including the race in Ansan. 11:00 am There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that CCWS is being sold to Tony George. Please keep working on the 2008 and 2009 schedule. 12:00 Lunch 13:00 Please stop by the upstairs office to get your severance pay on your way out.

Idiots, idiots, idiots... So pissed off! Their next move will determine if they have MY support, and I'm guessing many others as well. I went to 3 races this year, two of them over 400 miles from my home, spent a bunch of money, and was planning on attending the 500 this year. If I do go, I may need to find one of those "FTG" t-shirts. MJ

This article gave a great listing of all the things Randy did right, and made the board look like raving loons, which apparently they are. Good to see the Captain stand up for him, fat lot of good it did. And the only way to resolve the issue of the rumors was to fire him?? The only option? How about you release a statement backing him and extending his contract. That would have worked. In the words of Bugs Bunny: What a maroon! (or maroons, I guess) MJ

I know some people don't care for Robin, but no sports writer covering any sport has more passion than Robin. Yes, he can go overboard sometimes, and yes he can be arrogant, but I'll take that over the shills that cover other sports. I commend Speed for letting him share his feelings so openly. Expressing himself is what got him fired at The Star. Like him or not, he speaks for millions of open wheel fans, and on this subject, he speaks for me.

Don't know if I can have the patience to see yet another screwed up resurrection with the Hulman Family at the helm. This was an EPIC dumb decision. Robin Miller called this right.

This article is the meat and potatoes of what is really going on in the series now. This is the only real insight into what has been happening we have received. I eagerly await the other installments.
This type of insight was either not available or not embraced in 1995 when "The Split" transpired. The point is to understand the dynamic of the situation, then make a decision. This article helps us do just that.

Thanks for the link. I better understand his firing. My issue with IndyCar was this year’s 500. Kind of bothered me the turbo specs were changed allowing Ganassi to sandbag all May until race day. Would have been nice to see an American engine win for a change. But now we have IndyCar doing what’s done in so many other sports……..fire the coach without a clear idea as to the next coach.
