I cannot tell you how difficult it was to finish this kit. Not surprised Academy made only this F1 kit, because it fought me every step of the way: fit issues, weak parts, the whole nine yards. But at least it is done! Paint is Tamiya TS-15, decals by F1Specialties (now defunct, sadly - they were great)

Nice job on it! Good use of the Benetton kit, too. Was interesting to see two almost identical cars on the grid. With the precident set, I'm surprised Toro Rosso doesn't run a Red Bull clone.
Your build looks great and it doesn't suffer from the issues it gave you during the build. If you had not mentioned them, we'd have never known!

Nice looking build. I've heard from other sources that this kit is a real hand full of troubles. I have a couple copies of this kit and some of the F1 Specialties decal sheets (Ligier and Bridgestone Test Car). Any hints/advice on how to get around the build issues?

Thanks for the kind words!
Indy -yes, this was a mugen-Honda. The Benetton had a Renault V12, but the Mugen-Honda was a V10 (only part of the reason I went curbside).
Rusty - If I had it to do over again, I would have put the rear wing together first, then painted it and added decals. The rear wing was EXTREMELY delicate - I broke the upper element TWICE during building (you can see it if you look cloosely at the "T" in Gitanes. Also, there were fit issues when joining the monocoque to the floor. Not sure if it was because my kit was slightly warped or it was a design issue, but I had to put a brace inside the completed monocoque to "spread" it out to fit the floor. I was also dissappointed with the lack of parts for the engine bay. Lots of empty space left in there which is why (along with the difference in engine) I went curbside for the final build. -Patrick

Very great work on this good model!... But just one thing,Renault has never made a V12,the Renault engine of the Benetton was a V10 only.
Greetings.
