Yep, a great color scheme. What a beautiful restoration. Besides this roadster Smokey had the 'Sidecar'and there was a '61 roadster (was it the one that tried a big wing over the driver?). Were there any other Indy cars that Smokey ran in his black and gold scheme? Sandy

Smokey entered this car in ' 58 and '59, I think. In '61 and '62, he entered the Simoniz Specials. He tried the wing in'62. In '60 or '61 he entered the weird car he built, which had the increasing camber, as the wheels turned. Curtis Turner destroyed it in a practice run. In '64 he entered the sidecar, and in '67 and '69 he entered Eagles. If I remember correctly, he entered the stock block Chevy Eagle in '73-'76. All were black and gold.

Hi Duane, Thanks for the info. I didn't realize Smokey had so many Indy cars. Wouldn't that be a cool collection to build! Sandy

Smokey was actually the crew chief for the 1960 winning Ken Paul Spl. But Rathmann would not sign off on the authentication......
The '61 Simoniz Spl. was the same car.
