Hi Guys. I need some help. I am building the Ertl 1/20th scale 1967 Turbine kit and noticed last night that one of the tires is totally deformed. (Yes, you read it right. I am actually building something in plastic for a change! ;D)
I thought I remembered someone saying that an after market guy made these tires in resin. If so can someone let me know the person and thier contact info?
If not, does someone have a spare tire I can buy from them? If not I will have to cast my own but it may turn out more deformed than the original! LOL
Any help would be appreciated!!!
Thanks
Stu

I also have Norm's latest catalog and price list. I don't see any 1/20th scale tires listed. The 1/25th scale tires for the Lotus 56 and the 1968 Eagle, but no 1/20th scale turbine tires.

I didn't see it either or a few other parts I have seen before like the Rislone conversion kit. I guess let us know what happens when you talk to him Stu. I have a set of rims I could use another copy or two of that isn't on the catalog anymore so knowing about the stuff no longer listed will help.

Norm and I have been playing phone tag but his last message to me is that he does indeed have the 1/20th scale Turbine tires. He said they are not in his catalog but they are available.
Since then I have had a couple other guys offer me original kit tires from thier spares box or spare kit. That's why I love this site!!! Guys always willing to help and would give the shirt off thier back if they could. Thanks Jim & Paul!
If I can't secure the resin tires (Which I heard are outstanding) i will take one of you guys up on your offer.

What paint are you using for this model? Stu is on a well dissevered Caribbean cruise with his family this week, but I can answer for him your paint question. He is using Tamiya TS-36 Fluorescent Red. Paul Erlendson

Remember the end result of TS 36 Florescent Red will depend on your base coat, for very bright Flor. Red use White primer and build up coats until it makes you happy, I prefer to use a TS49 Bright Red under TS 36 Flor. Red and build up coats I think its more accurate but the paint job is one of those that constantly changes depending the light source.. Here is te Lotus 56B that I did and the reference pic that I matched it to.. It really is a matter of what your eyes see and what makes you happy.. Chris

Thanks Paul - Yes, I was cruising the open seas and watching all the babes at the pool. That is...when my wife wasn't looking! Yes, I used Tamiya TS-36 over Tamiya white primer. The Floro cars never photographed well and I guess it's just a matter of how you see it. One of my favorite builds ever Chris is your build of the Lotus. I like both you cars!. Great work. Perhaps some day I'll get the chance to build my 1/12 Paxton turbine. And thanks for the tip on the colors.
I always like seeing both your work, inspiring!

Paul, I had been trying to get the resin tires from Norm prior to going on vacation. Norm and I were playing phone tag and just ran out of time before I had to go. Norm actually called me back when I was on the cruise ship last Thursday! My wife freaked because I answered the phone even though I knew that charges were about $8 a minute! But, Norm had tried to call me before and I couldn't pick up so I felt I had to this time. I explained to Norm where I was and would call him back again on Monday. I tried that yesterday but once again got his voice mail. Just bad luck because we cannot seem to connect. I took a different route yesterday and emailed him! LOL We will see what happens today! Stu

Here you go. Special Thanks to everyone that offered to bail me out when one of my original tires was worst than egg shaped. Ultimately I traded a few things with Paul (PJE) and got the tire that I needed.
