Duane, You're killing me! Earlier this year a friend called and tried to talk up a road trip to this event. From Virginia it would have been do-able, but I never followed up on it due to the main family vacation, work, money and so on. Trying to be a Responsible Adult stinks sometimes. Looking at your photos and seeing what I missed....Darn it, darn it, darn it, I shoulda' gone. Hey, I could've packed a bunch of PBJ sandwiches, some RC Cola's, and bought cheap GettyMart gas and drove non-stop and back with my buddy.
This DA Spl is really neat looking. When I look a today's clone racers, I really miss this era.

heck, i made it all the way from tampa! actually it was the first stop on our vacation to asheville with the wife. hopefully they'll be back next year as you really missed a great time! i'll keep teasing you with pictures as i get them downsized.

Keep rubbing it in, these are great photos! Maybe next year if they have it. What vintage stock cars were there? My buddy said some of the drivers like Allison and Junior Johnson were going to be there. Did you see any of them?

heck sandy, i made it from tampa but to be honest it was the first stop on our way to asheville. the stock car part wasn't very good as most were replicars. but the indy cars were what i wanted to see as i've seen my share of old stock cars (and i still love them too!) and not too many indy cars living in florida.
driver turnout was good on sunday as we got to see glen wood, david pearson, buddy baker, marvin panch, cotton owens and donnie and bobby allison all moderated throughout the day by barney hall. i ran into rex white in the parking lot and got to talk with him for a short while as well! hopefully this event will be back next year and they can maybe attract some indy drivers as well. (yes, i know bobby and donnie both ran indy and the wood bros. were there as well with jim clark).
