had to share this! the guy that owns this (i believe) 1966 t-90 lola driven by rodger ward is too big to fit in it and has two friends that drive it for him at these type of events. (lucky guys!) i'm not a big guy so i was suprised to find out how tight a fit they are! duane

Great photos Duane. Darn, what a good looking car. Did they have to threaten you to get you out of it? They would have had to pull me out kickin' and screamin'! The colored exhaust pipes and the drag racing style air scoop are really cool. Sandy

Hey Racer!!!!!!!
I got very lucky to interview Rodger Ward a few times before he died a few years ago. Once for the Indy 500 Program. He talked about that car with some hostility! He won the race at Trenton before Indy in 1966 in that car. He was supposed to drive the number 25 car for Mecom, but after winning at Trenton, Mecom wanted Ward to drive that car...the number 26. He told Mecom several times, that the number 26 would perform well at Indy. And of course, Rodger was correct on that. In fact, after qualify, he told Bignotti to take the car and put it on the Bear Rack and get it sorted out or two cars would be pulling down the pit lane at the start of the race...The pace car and the number 26 Bryant Car. ward said it was a pig, hard to handle and after a while, he knew he was just marking time and in other drivers way, so he thought it best to park it and call it a day. He retired the next day. GREAT PHOTOS OF THAT CAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Best to you
Russ

hi bill, i would guess that at least 3/4 of the cars there took some laps. it's funny that i was there from 10:00 to about 5:00 and still ran out of time to get pictures of everything! duane p.s. the guy that owns the car is the same one that does the old indy videos. he and his buddies were as nice as can be and were actually the ones who suggested i get in the car and get some pictures. i told them i was stuck in the car and that maybe if i made a few laps in it, the heat would expand the car and i would sweat off a few pounds as well! i think they might have heard that one before. db
