;)As a fervant tifosi I never wavered from my team. Even with a dog of a car Alanzo has earned his pay with an effort worthy of a Jimmy Clark or J-M Fangio. He proved it again by whacking the field at Valencia, his home GP! Muchas gracias para ti. Maybe, just maybe the car is getting better and, perhaps, more consistent handling. Let us pray.

Well I'm not a Ferrari or an Alonso fan but he drove a really great race and deserved his win. I love guys who just go for it and don't give up. He seems to have matured now he's with Ferrari whereas at McLaren he never fitted in. Two No1 drivers never works. Real class. Not so sure about the car though........... Dave

I follow F1 on www.totalf1.com, they gather info rather quickly and use many site's articles to keep everything up to date. Alonso has matured quite a bit, whether the car is that much better or not he beats it into performing, manhandles it into winning and has shown a lot of humbleness when it wins. Previous to this season I had viewed him as a pompous jackass , but what he has shown me this year convinced me he will be champion again and again and.... Massa although a great driver cannot make the car submit like Alonso and it may cost him his job, but after surviving that nasty accident in Hungry he deserves to quietly retire. Alonso has stated he would welcome the likes of Vetel or Hamilton as co-team mates with open arms. A different man his year and apparently getting better by the hour.. FANTASTIC Race today, I was on the edge of my chair for 2 hours yelling, clapping and having a great time. What a race!!!! Chris

Well Patrick, I think that the car is getting better, but Alonso is also one of the very, very few drivers who can win in a second or third place car. You have to look at what Massa has done in the same car to see just how good Alonso really is. Take Care Craig

I had pretty given up following F1 after the tire debacle at IMS. But I picked up on it again this season and every race has been extremely entertaining. Wish Indycar could match the level of entertainment.

Yesterdays' racing was perhaps the most exciting of this era. What a wonderful day for Alonso and LOTS of side by side racing.

I personally woukl prefer to see anyone other than Ferrari and Alonso win, but agree that the F1 races this year have been hugely entertaining to watch.

What a great race, I tell you, this is one of the best F1 seasons in a long long time. Just when you thought that Sebastian Vettel was going to run away with it (Again) Romain Grosjean starts chasing him down and it looks like they might battle it out for the win and perhaps an eights winner this season! then both cars falter and drop out, and next thing you know Alonso has come from 11th to take the lead! Stellar driving. And let's not forget Kimi and Michael, both drove a great race.
I have not been a great Michale Shumacher fan though I have great respect for the talent. However now that he is kind of an underdog I have been rooting for him to win. His top qualifying time at Monaco shows just how much Michael and the Mercedeshace come this year. And of course Kimi and the Lotus are right up there in their improvements as well.
Great podium... Fernando Kimi Michael
Race On!

What a great season this is turning out to be. Like Chris, I have never liked Alonso, still don't much care for him, but my what a talent. Didn't much care for Senna either, so that shows what I know.
I have been a Lotus fan since I was 8 and Sterling Moss won Monaco in the 18 (though it's hard to consider the current team as truly "Lotus") and a McLaren fan since '67 Can-Am at Road America. And Ferrari was the enemy not only of them, but of my beloved Fords at Le Mans. So, I have never been a fan, except when first Mario and then Giles was there. But I can't help but respect them. And anyone want to give me a 458, I'll take it and promise not to trade it in for an MP4/12C. :-) Their job this year has been spectacular.
Still, if Vetel hadn't dropped out we would still be talking about another run away. I don't know what is up with my McLaren boys - Jenson seems to have totally lost it, and Lewis... Well, Lewis may well be the fastest guy in F1 but sometimes (a lot) he can't see because he is driving with his head buried deep in a dark orifice.
So basically I am agreeing - this is truly a classic season. The way Alonso is driving, I could never complain if he wins it all. And with the way Indycar is going, what a great year to be an open wheel fan!

I'm sure Alonso got a really bad press when he was paired with Hamilton at least here in the UK. Hamilton was the young upstart and Alonso had just won a World Championship and was the undisputed No 1 in his previous team. He'd already done some superb drives and suddenly found himself in a team where he was no longer the favourite. Never works! Button/Hamilton - Mansell/Piquet - Mansell/Prost - Senna/Prost - Villeneuve/Pironi - Andretti/Petersen, Schumacher/Rosberg - Webber/Vettel all potentially destructive. It all goes fine until one driver finds he's generally faster. No problem if it's the more experienced but when it's the new kid......................! The only guy I really like is Webber. He ain't the best driver but you don't often hear him toeing the corporate line. He wears his heart on his sleeve and tells it like it is. None of the school-kid yelling when he wins either - guess who knows there's an audience. I loved his comment "Not bad for a Number 2" when he beat Vettel who'd been given preferential treatment with updated bits. Funny, Casey Stoner's an Aussie and he's not got too many kind words for the suits either. I like Lotus too, even if it is just a name. Still, Ferraris are only Fiats.................. Dave

Oh and Romain Grosjean - that boy's seriously good. If he gets the right ride and keeps his head he could be up their with the best.
