Done! The only thing worse than my building skills are my photography skills. It didn't help that photobucket and imgur.com malfunctioned on me. Anyway, this was a fun build for my first one back after 3 years. It came out decent. I'll add comments after the pics (they really suck tho)
1) I filled in the Penske exhaust hole with putty. That came out good.
2) For the scoop I used tube styrene and putty. I used a pin vise to drill a hole through the engine cover and part of the scoop. Then I used a small piece of toothpick to run through the scoop and into the engine cover. Glue, primer, paint. Not all bad.
3) I used the rear wing from a 1988 March and made the smaller wing plates from .020 styrene. Came out ok.
4) The wing support was a single strut so I took the 1988 support, cut one of the base pieces off and glued and puttied the strut pieces together. I then cut a little groove into the back of the gearbox and glued in the base. I tilted it back a bit too far, but the real car was rear-leaning but not as much as I had it. Fair grade for that.
I used Tamiya Gray primer to get a slightly darker green. I sprayed a swatch with white and gray primer before testing the green on them and liked the darker primer. The pictures actually look much brighter than the car does.
Lastly, I used two great tips from the guys here. I use the "flat black wash" that Russ taught me, to add depth to the engine and gear box. I love that one. Then I used the tip on tire decals that Calvin gave me 3 years ago. I use Acryl flat clear under and over the tire decals. Came out the way I liked.
Overall I was pleased with this one. I did more modifications than I ever had. It gave me confidence moving forward.
Thanks for looking.
Next up, the 1989 Copenhagen Foyt Lola. Can't wait!!
