I love this car! Instead of starting another thread, I will just post my (hopefully good) pictures here. I'm pretty much done with the painting and just have engine detail, tires, suspension assembly and decals left. In Calvin's world, I'd be done tonight. But since I don't work quite that fast, I'll put the ETA on Friday again, as I did with my last build. Wow, two in just over a week. That is a record for me.

First off I have to say Michael did a great job on this set of decals. I found them to be a good fit for the 1988 Lola kit even tho the car was a 1989. I used the 88 because of the red panel below below the engine cover that was formed for the 88. Anyway, here are the pics and I'll make a few comments afterwards. Thanks for looking. Since I used an 88 kit, I had to scratch build a whole rear wing. I used an 89 wing as a template and made it out of .040 and .020 styrene. I only wish there had been decals for the wing. I couldn't quite get the curvature of the striping the way it should have been, thus the number was moved back a bit. That is one of the things i have trouble with. I curve the stripes and there are bubbles that won't go away. I'll live with the result tho. As in other Lolas that I've been building, I puttied and sanded the sidepod area. That seems to be an easier way to do this kit and the panels won't separate that way. AJ Foyt was one of my favorite drivers. His driving was great, his personality was colorful but this was my favorite AJ moment.....

Awesome job on a sweet looking Foyt car. Reading your commentary you sound like me - I'm my own worst critic. Nicely done!

It's a thing of beauty! Love it. I am only 39, but have old guy syndrome already. As a kid, growing up watching Indy in the 80's and 90's - I just love the cars, paint schemes, drivers and to me - it was the pinnacle of AOWR. Great work, thanks for sharing! Here is one of AJ in 1989, in THIS CAR! Language Warning (as if I need to even say that with any AJ video lol) Not sure to how embed a youtube video with timestamp. This starts at 7:32.

i remember being a kid and went up to AJ in the late 80's and he signed a few things for me and wouldn't sign this guys hat or hero card and talked to me for a few moments! Hence my name!

A.J. can be really gracious to his fans and, conversely, can smell an ebaY seller from a mile away. If I want something signed, I mail it to Houston and it gets taken care of. I try never to bother him at the track other than to say hello. He's always been very nice to me.
BEAUTIFUL MODEL!!!! ;D

There are many colors that are a close match to "poppy red", but if you want the real thing, any online vintage mustang vendor will sell you a spray can of the real thing. It is a 1965 Mustang color. Take Care Craig

When Ford discontinued that color, Foyt bought all they had, which was delivered to Houston in 55 gallon drums. Is it that 1965 Mustang orange you seek.
