Man I love May.
Up early in time to watch Monaco, then right to the 500. You know I'm a long time fan because I was deeply disappointed when it was announced that Jim Nabors would not be there to sing Back Home Again in Indiana. The only race of the year where I sit through the pre-race show. Wish I was there - maybe next year.
It looks as though the rumor was true about Honda's efforts being all aimed at the Speedway. At the top of the charts much of the week, then out to lunch for quali, then back on top on Carb Day. That may answer why the Chevy's have been fastest at the races before the Speedway: the Chevys are best the higher the boost, which has been the case on the road courses and for qualifying for the 500. The Hondas like the lower boost they run at Indy. No dummies working at HPD.
Really warming up to the new car. Having seen them in person at Sonoma and Long Beach, I can state for certain that they look better in person. Amazing how the paint jobs make such a HUGE difference on these cars. The cars that de-emphasize the "spat" in front of the rear wheels (TK's Indy ride, WP) look great, while the others like RHR & HCN well, don't look great.
Can't wait. Here is hoping for a great, safe race, one that gives us lots to talk about.

It is a great time of year.
What surprises me is the size of the crowds. I drove home from work Thursday morn (6am) and noticed the coke field was already about a 1/3 full. On Thursday morning! That hasn't happened in years!

Tom, I'm with you on the first time winner. But what I really hope for is a safe day of racing everywhere.

OUCH! Patrick PS- Every race has its time, greatness, and glory. Let of those, narrow of mind, enjoy each race as the Great Maker expected them to do, with gusto and respect so that they might follow the Maker's will with the fullness of time and comradrie! "So let it be written...so let it be done."

Just got back in Ohio from the race. What a great race it was! I hate that Dario won again and was really hoping Sato would get him on the last lap. From my seat in the Paddock all I saw was Sato make the dive and I saw the impending crash on the video screen. Going to sit and watch the DVR of the race now!
Saw a bunch of great friends and had dinner with Michael (Indycals) and Eric (Lazierfan) Can't wait until next year although I am whupped and ready to relax!!!

I'm with you Stu. When Sato took the lead mid-race I thought to myself this would be good for Japan and Indy if he won. I was on the edge of the couch when he dove down and dismayed when he started to slip. Experience wins over exuberance again!

I haven't seen the Monaco race yet, but I heard it had a new series winner. 6 in six!

Just home. Sunburned but mighty thankful for the cool breeze all day! Never been behind the pits on Saturday of an oval race there before and enjoyed it all. Got up close with cool vintage cars, touched a Lotus 56, and talked to the owner about his Howmet. Guy had team shirts at the memorabilia meet for $3 up. Got a Team Australia shirt in great shape for $20. Got lost and found myself in the garage area with about 10 other fans, Paul Morgan, Derrick Walker, and Craig Hampton... About a half dozen garage doors were open with prep work being done. Great time!

That's too bad another foreign driver won. I'm not surprised about Ashley. I'll bet Rodger and Supertex would have sent her dogs to the dog pound!!!!!
