It's official:
Dario will drive for Ganassi in the IRL in '09 replacing Dan Wheldon.

Where's Weldon going?

That was my question - Dario for Dan is not a good trade IMHO unless he has soured with the team chemistry. Jordan

Wheldon probably felt like a bit player at Ganassi with the year Dixon's had. The Chipster doesn't hide his favoritism for the hot driver in his camp. i.e. JPM. Should be interesting to see where Weldon ends up. There's only so many big money seats available.

I doubt he could go back to AGR and if you can't go to Penske then who's good enough to go to? Newman Haas Lanigan might be the next best team!? L Dragon might be a decent choice as would Vision but IMHO no one in the IRL has top tier equipment like TCGR, Penske, and AGR.

I just saw he's going to Panther pipping poor Vitor Meira. Vitor deserves a really good car, he's a good guy and veerry underated as a driver. Jordan your observations are spot on.

Would like to see Panther add a 2nd car for Vitor.... Otherwise, Panther is an interesting bet for DW (lol - that sounds funny). Anyway, Danny-boy must think he can bring them back to their Hornish days. Dan is very talented so it will be interesting to watch.... not a lot of old IRL teams in the first breath of contenters these days. It might add a new dimension to 2009! Jordan

As far as the level of competition goes, doesn't the IRL seem like CART in it's better days? It was inevitable. Them that has, gets.

If Panther doesn't run a second car for Vitor I hope he gets a decent ride and outruns Wheldon. It would be great if Vitor won the finale this weekend. G

I suspect it was at the urging from Ashley......the cameras are not on her every 5 minutes in the Nationwise series.

For whatever reason, Dario lost his Cup ride, and I am sure that the Nationwide series is not up to HIS standards! It is like Barry Bonds being sent to Toledo when he's perfectly healthy.........

Congrats to Dario - his options in Cup couldn't have been good so he snagged the only good IndyCar seat open for 2009 before anyone even knew it was open. Quite a coop Mr. Judd!

Saw Vitor at Chicagoland autograph session. Very downbeat guy. This guy deserves a second ride from Panther. Then to add to his woes, he wound up in the turn 2 wall not even half way through the race. A sad end for what was a good season. The poor guy needs a break.

IMHO.......I think the Chipster is a "tool". The whole Wheldon deal was really mishandled. The drivers a professionals they should be treated as such. Apparently he did not even know that Chip was courting T.K. and then blammo Dario in Dan out. Vitor is a class act all the way...talked to him briefly in Milwaukee and he stopped for some pics....but he sure has a black cloud floating over him....just can't get a break on the track.

Was reading about this... ...on Speed's website maybe... ....anyways, Wheldon and Chip were discussing resigning around Indy. But once Cheap made a play for TK, Wheldon felt expendable. I doubt in light of the TK situation, that Dan was surprised to hear he was out for 2009. Personally, I never thought Dan or Dario made the right move by leaving AGR. Will make '09 interesting though as maybe Panther can be a resurgent team.
