Does anyone know why the F1 cars for this year have those ugly noses ? What rukes were made that made the teams make these ugly noses. I don't see or can think of any reason for doing it.

New rule for 2012 concerning the height of the nose is for safety reasons. They were worried that the nose of the car was at the same elevation as the driver's head. Not a good thing in a T-bone type of accident. All the teams except McLaren wanted the chassis at the same height as before so they all went with the step. Makes for an ugly car.
