Newbie here, but I love this site. Can't believe it took me this long to find it. I'm looking for some advice on my first custom project. I have a Minichamps PC23 Emerson Fittipaldi 1/18 scale. I have a couple questions:
On the lower sides of the car the big Penske decals seemed to be painted on how do I remove them???
Where can I get 1/18 scale decals for this car, the Mrlboro decals are hard to come by it seems???
When removing the old decals it is leaving behind a yellow film seems to be the clear coat. what is the best way to keep that from flaking and how far back do I remove it???
Sorry guys I am a newbie, but would really appreciate your help. I have a very extensive/expensive diecast collection, but i'm looking for some pieces that you can't buy in stores like this 1.

I used nail polish remover but you must be careful as if you use too much or rub to hard the white will wipe off too. The yellow might come off with a tad bit of windex but not sure... i have used npr on that too but be careful.

nail polish remover sounds easy enough I will give it a try. I just need to find these decals now. Hopefully somebody can help me there.

Try Patto's Place for your decals. I guess the long arm of P M does not extend down under.

If you haven't tried the nail polish remover which may be too toxic, you might try a product like Goo Gone. It is citrus based and I have found it very good with the sticky residue from stickers, tape, crayons, etc. It would be worth a try. You may want to try Indycals when he resumes production for the decals. If Mike can't help you, he mostly likely would know who could. Good luck, Jim

The Penske on the side is a thin film decal To remove it try clear packing tape. It is more sticky then masking tape or scotch tape. There should be no residue left. The discoloration may be due to paint yellowing from light exposure. A light polishing compound may be able to remove it. M@r1b0r0 decals are offered on ebay once in a while. Indycals will not print them without written permission from Phillip Morris.

1 last question. The stickers on the rear wing. Nail polish remover discolors that sticker extremely easily. Is there a specific solution around that sticker?

I have heard diluted, non acetone nail polish remover is best to remove certain tampos/decals off of cars.
Dilute it some with water, bottled water if you have it just to be safe.
