I decided to take a break and build a "box stock." I had never seen this built before, especially with the '91 paint scheme on a '90 car... I was also intrigued by the Piquet helmet decals which of course, forced a driver figure... It would be interesting to hear from anybody who happened to make the race... In Patrick's immortal words "the fiddly bits (translation:suspension) were a bear (translation: problem or b**ch). More to follow... Tim

I Like it, as you say unusual colour scheme on the car and that always appeals to me. I must try and build some OTB to reduce my stash a bit, detailing takes too much time!

I like it! The Benetton cars back then were always very nice colorful. I love early 90's F1. 1991 was the last Phoenix GP. The first one was in 1989 which was held in the middle of June!!!! It was 100 degrees. But thankfully for 1990 and 1991 the held it in March. If I remember correctly didn't Piquet win a few races in 1991 in this car?

Nice work Tim! Was the Phoenix race the one held in a parking lot? Sandy The race held in a parking lot was at Caesars palace in Vegas, I wanna say 1983 or '84. Phoenix was held in downtown phoenix, and was an absolute flop with the public, according to the 1989 F1 season review video, the commentators stated that some rodeo was in town, or something similar and most ppl went to see that. It also didnt help it was held in the summer of '89, june, in sweltering heat. For 1990 and 1991 the race was moved to march, and was the season opener, the circuit was slightly modified from its 1989 layout for 1990 and '91. Senna won both races in 90 & 91, and in '89 he tied Jimmy Clarks pole position record, and subsequently went on to record a then record 65 pole positions before his death in '94.
