This whole project was to be kept a secret ( just like the original Project 34) until Chris' NNL and then I was going to pull it out of the box. I ran into a problem and I don't think it will be finished on time. I made this beast back in the late 80's without any dimensions. It looked good, but I later found out how inaccurate it was. The IPMS folks liked it though. Thanks to Chris' WIP on his 1/20 model I decided to redo the old beastie a bit more accurately (it still won't be but will be closer)... I even used the old out of scale Mauri kit engine/ transaxel with a cut and paste job to make it more correct... I got this far before I realized that I had a problem that wasn't an easy one to fix... even though I was satisfied with the front suspension the ride height was too tall!!!!!! I think the front tires/wheels are too tall at an OD of 3/4". I might need to find a bit smaller dia. combination. SO... I turn to you guys for some ideas on how to overcome this problem. Wudda think? Patrick

I wish it was that easy...see this is a 1/24 scale project and not a 1/20! They only have 1/20 don't they or did I miss something (I hope).

OK here is a suggestion on the tires... find the original diameter. covert to 1/24, go to the Ninco 1/32 slot car site, there they list the diameters, width and height and rim size of the tires they sell, figuring they are very small diameter there should be a set that will work just perfectly.. any slot car shop or Nico online should have stock available.. also Ninco make photoetch wheel centers that replicate many racing wheels.. I am working on a set for my 1/32 Shelby Cooper Cobra...UPC build.. check it out Mr G.. see ya Sunday! Chris

If I am correct the axle height on the transaxle would be corrected if you flip it , cut off the rear and re-mount.. that's what I see.... Chris

Well, thanks to a good friend I came up with some wheel/tire combos that will allow me to finish this racer... Calvin, this is one of the Mauri engines I chopped and sliced to make more acceptable! Now I have to match paint for the wing and finish this one. I will keep my New Year's resolution and finish some of the back log of unfinished models. Patrick

It's getting closer! the front suspension is all done except for the wheel centers... exhausts(not the best) are on and the wing is glued together. These don't seem like big things, but... Patrick

I agree, another impressive job, Patrick. The base toy looked accurate enough by itself for the first build up but you are doing an excellent job fixing it to be even better.

Why didn't you make it with movable steering on the front??
