Just got the latest issue of RACER in the mail yesterday. It has a centerfold (hubba hubba) ... of the Deltawing...
There is also an article about Gilles Villeneuve (one of my favorites). On the last page of the article is a picture of a fictional Tamiya model (box cover) of the 1984 World Champion Gilles Villeneuve in his McLaren - TAG Porsche MP4/2. I'm tempted to actually build one of these.

Rusty: I too got the new issue; the Villaneuve kit spooked me! It would be a VERY cool build. I'll never forget the French G.P. where he raced the Renault turbines (and lost). Even my Dad (no race fan) stopped to watch it with me. His comment that day: "Either that guy(GV) is very good or very crazy." What I LOVED in the issue was all of the Indy 500's on ESPN Classic starting May 21st. They include 67,70,71,80 and a bunch more. I just got Classic last week... Build that kit! Build that kit! Build that kit! Build that kit!... Tim

From Racer magazine never even knew this kit existed Terry It dosen't. RACER made it up for the article. I'm not even sure that any manufacture (plastic) ever made a MP4/2 in 1/20. Rusty

Protar MP4/2C in 1/24 and 1/12, also a 1/12 in metal, and a separate engine kit in metal. Missed my chance on the car many years ago, although I have the engine kit and its really not very good.
If one wasn't around racing then, google the "M@r1b0r0 Light" version Rosberg raced in two races.
Of course the Tamiya box is a hoax, as Villenueve died in 1982!

Tom: I stand corrected:(I guess I ignored the Alain Prost copy of that in my GP cars case!) I remember the suspension was very finicky. That would be the car to use as the make believe "GV championship car" in 1/24th..Thanks for the input; I was unaware of any 1/12th versions. Tim Jones Sour Lake, TX

Tom I have a couple of the 1/24 MP4/2Cs. I actually had a 1/12 MP4/2C in my hands about 20 years ago. I was in a small model store in Milwaukee and I did not know how rare they were. I decided to put it back because $35.00 dollars was "way too much to pay for a model". YES... I am an idiot! I also passed on the Bandai 1/12 STP Turbine and a 1/8 scale Lotus 72D. Life's lessons learned. I'll not be doin that again. Rusty
