Was talking to my company GM today and we are in the process of buying new computers and the only non Apple PC i would consider is HP, and it got me thinking of other things you only buy and or shop at because of their Indycar branding. I was talking to an office mate who smokes and he said he smokes M@r1b0r0 because of the Mclaren cars back in the day. Back in my office there is a Diet Sun Drop and Diet Rite in my fridge. When I had a flat tire i drove ten miles out of my way to the Firestone store to get it fixed. I only shop at Menards, and am on the look out for some of Fuzzy's vodka.
Dose a sponsor supporting Indycar sway you as bad it does me?

Sponsorship has never had a big influence on me one way or the other. I was always a big Newman Haas fan but yet I never shopped at Kmart or used Havoline oil and I never even knew what Lilly was. I certainly avoid McDonalds at all costs yet I still followed and rooted for Newman Haas. I am partial to Firestone though so maybe in some way I was influenced.

I don't think any of the sponser's ever had an effect on me actually wanting the product they were advertizing. However, if Victoria's Secret wanted to sponsor a car, I might be more inclined to visit that teams pitt more often! It would also give me a better reason to be in that store! Jim

Yes, I feel if they are involved in indycar I should support them. RC cola, Sun drop. Started buying coors light when they sponsored car and Red Bull too. I think it sends a message even if its a small one that we do, to continue to support their product when they support our sport.

I worked at Honda's East Liberty plant in the body shop and i can tell you first hand the people on the line i worked on were big indycar fans because Honda was involved and out of 35+ in the body shop 20 of us followed Indycar on a regular basis. We even jumped on a guy who wore a Nascar hat to work. Back to point the sponsors are involved in it too, eve down to the grunts who work on the line.

I try to whenever I can. I shop at Target, use Mobil One, and other major sponsors through the years. Even my choice of a Honda last year was influenced by it. When she needs tires, I'll go to Big-O, Graham Rahals sponsor.
I also think it's important to let them know on occasion that you buy because they support the series.

Several years ago, I was looking at sat radio and went with XM because they were involved in Indycar. Other than that, it has nothing to do with what I buy. I shop at Target and Meijer, but it is surely not because of the involvement in racing, especially Target. I shop at Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards and I am NOT a NASCAR fan. Take Care Craig

I work at Lowe's but I've followed Jeff Gordon since his USAC days. But my heart has always been with Indy cars. I'm not sponsor loyal even though maybe I should be, to help Indy Car grow.

I gladly confess that a IndyCar sponsor effected my life in a big way, I smoked since the Navy and had a offer to try Skoal Bandits. I bought a tube of 24 cans @ .27 ea. I broke the inhaling habit and it just got to the point it wasn't practical spiting in a pop can anymore. That was 1983 haven't touched either since. Jeff

I have to admit, no sponsorship has ever gotten me to try a product. If I like a product, I use it. If not, I don't. On the other hand, I have been known to not use a product because they sponsor a driver I don't like. I shop at Menards and Home Depot, but I will never go to Lowes.

I tend to use Pennzoil to this day since JR was always my favorite and 1980 was my first race.
And everything else being equal, I prefer to shop at Menards.
Other than that, nothing real consumerish. Though I do think about it sometimes when tinkering with the car, using Moog steering parts, for example.

What other sponsors would you like to see?

When everything else is equal, yes, Indycar sponsorship sways me. But things aren't always equal. Case in point, Target isn't very convenient for me, so I tend not to shop there. I did try to buy some Alumax Aluminum once, but Walmart was all out.
