Okay, first off I have zero plains to do a PC9b model kit. But its the last* model needed to complete the decade of the 80's winners. *1989 is a maybe for being possible? So if we talk about how we need a 1981 Penske PC9b, it might come true sooner rather than later. Its possible to build the decade of winners of the 50's 60's,70's, but when the 80's comes up, 1981 is a big goose egg?!?!?! Just think of the possibles of having a PC9b resin kit. and Rick Mears 1980 ride.....(no pic) So if you want a PC9b kit start posting why we need one!

We know Lance has said that the car is on his list to produce. Hopefully he will let us know where he is at with the car. Also Calvin, when you're up to it I'm sure Lance wouldn't mind a little competition. Paul Erlendson Attachments:

Oh, I'm in for at least 2. This would give me all the 80s winners, except 89.

. Also Calvin, when you're up to it I'm sure Lance wouldn't mind a little competition. No I'm not doing a PC9b But my competition for Lance's PC9b is Mario's 81 Wildcat. That I'm dead set on doing. Maybe Lance and I can come out with our 1981 "winner" cars at the same time and we can have a Bobby vs Mario thread! We could add an * to the 1980's decade by having the 1981 Wildcat as the 1981 May-October winner. When Michael does the decals for my 1981 Wildcat he might have to use the famous * on his Indy 500 winners decal selection when it comes the the 1981 Wildcat? But at the end of the day we need the real 1981 Winner kit!!!!!!

Oh, I'm in for at least 2. Depending on what decals Michael does is how many I would get.

I'd take at least one of these (probably 2). I've always thought that its a good idea to produce kits that have a number of possible versions (paint/marking schemes). Especially, that Chrome ESSEX scheme on the Mario car. Sounds like Mike is willing to do the markings. This would be an excellent choice.

Regarding 1981, the real winner of the race was Vern Schuppan, who ultimately finished 3rd, when the correct one lap penalty was not given to Bobby and Mario. If someone named Foyt, Ruby or such was in 3rd, the outcome would have been much different and would not have taken until late October. Vern deserved better.

I'd build my Rick Mears PC9b as his Riverside winning car. Why? Because I have a lot of good shots of that car and Rick was the Road Course king that year. I love Rick's style of racing the Road circuits - lay back and let everyone else break their cars.

Money's tight but I definitely want 2 - Mears '80 & Mears '81 have always been on the want list. Anyone know what needs to be changed to make an '81 into an '80?

Look at the sidepods. Not a conversion for the timid. (Engine cover is also different, but not so intimidating.)

Those two jumped out at me, too, Michael. As did the rear wing supports which is probably the easiest part to fix.
With those huge louver (Sp?) topped side pods, it would certainly take a good amount of work to do it correctly.
Anyone's keen eye seeing other differences?

I'm looking for Al Loquasto's Action Park Sponsored Penske. Al would use year old Penske leftovers. This car was very Shrp Looking. The car was Blue with Red on the sides of the Side Pods and trimmed in White. Side Pods said Actio Park, which was a theme park in our area and it had mini-indycars, Lots of fun. Car number was #86.

I need this car because I want to recreate the Machinists 31 that Roger Mears qualified for 1982 Indy 500, but was damaged at the start. My grandfather worked for the Machinists Union and worked on the car.

My grandfather worked for the Machinists Union and worked on the car. Welcome, it is great to have you here. I have a pin of the MU car that is pretty sharp. What scale are you looking for? **edit**There is a 1/64 build on here from Terry saying the bodies were from Gary Fast. I am not sure how to buy those, someone will have to chime in. ERTL did the PC9 in 1/43, to my eye that is what MA scale copied for their PC9B. Terry on this forum does some 1/43 IndyCars, I cannot recall him doing this one but I do not have an encyclopedic memory. Lance Sellers did the car 8ish years ago in 1/25 scale. It is not available from Lance currently but maybe someone here is willing to sell. Not sure if Replicarz is doing this car in 1/18 yet but it will probably get done eventually. Jordan
