I'm working on the '51 Belanger Spl. What is a good color match for it? I know it is a dark blue, but what? Thanks, Wrencher.

It is a very dark blue metallic, I don't believe there is good over the counter color that I have seen. I mixed a dark blue metallic with some black to make it darker and got a pretty good match. I'll have to look and see what blue I started with .

Wrencher.....Howdy!
Thst color is a bugger, I know! Sometime back, I found a Dupi-Color paint that is very close.....It's a match to a 1968 Ford Mustang color called Midnight Metallic Blue. It's real close and comes out of a can.....very easy.
Best to you
Russ

Thanks for the info. I ended up using Tamiya Mr. Color Midnight Blue (lacquer) with some Dark Metallic blue added. H.W.

Great to have found this thread identifying the color. Couldn't find the 68 Mustang blue but did find a sutable subsititue. Also found this web page: www.rumbledrome.com/belanger.htmlQuestion: where do you find either the old style Firestone decals or masks for the tires? Dave

Apparently they sat in the bottom of the box and many of the decals show parts rubbed off, which is why I ordered another set a week ago.
Any suggestions on putting the new set on? I wouldn't think they were that fragile.
Have you considered making just the tire decals for the various decades to improve the look of the plastic kits?

Have you considered making just the tire decals for the various decades to improve the look of the plastic kits? No, there have always been other sources for tire decals and I'm content to let others fill that void. I want to focus on liveries, not to mention all the tires that have raised lettering that can be easily painted. I'll continue to include tire decals with my decals that come with them, and will likely continue to offer them as options with some sheets (like my recent Indy sheets), but I'm not interested in doing ala-carte markings - takes too much focus away from the liveries, and there are simply way too many tire, style, size and scale considerations. I don't want to do a 'generic' sheet because I don't work that way - I try to tailor things as specifically as possible to a specific car, to produce the best results - case in point, I have nearly 50 different pieces of art for "Good-year" including tire and contingency markings. Different sizes, different radiuses, different colors, different orientations, different type styles (sometimes Good-year is slanted, sometimes it's not), each with a specific use, and I'm sure there will be more developed as needed. Plus my decals will work on some materials - painted resin, Tamiya 80s/90s F1 tires - but may not take so kindly to other non-plastic/resin materials.

I understand your position Mike, However the Belond Spl I bought from Bill J has your decal sheet [ looks great] but no tire markings so I have to use markings that may or may not be correct. Many cars that I want to build don't have decals available from you [ 65 Yamaha Spl, Pennzoil Panther etc] I try to make my own with some success, but my printer will not print anything white. If you make a sheet for a car I want I am more than happy to buy it. Craig
