My favorite team has done very nicely, thank you. I don't know how McLaren could make their cars look so much better with the same rules for all but they did. I will say, though, in general race cars over the last decade have really become ugly. Except sprints and midgets, of course! I love F1 (really I do) But wtf, these noses, bar the McLaren are hideous. The era of the platypus front nose is upon us. I thought some of the design choices in 2009 left a lot to be desired. But these 2012 cars take the cake. The Ferrari & Force India noses look like Lego's lol.

The McLaren is certainly less fugly but still not exactly pretty. They have so many tacked on gizmos and whatzits. Perfection Hosted on Fotki

OMG ...Laddies, they are nothing but a square haggis. Couldn't the boys from Marinello do something better? They once did... I haven't seen a really beautiful F1 car in many years now...OMG Patrick

2012 Ferrari is OK .... until you get to that nose. WTF! Thats just plain awful looking. McLaren is the only reasonable (good looking) solution so far.

OK Here is the story, I hope I can explain, The rules have a maximum nose height and to improve downforce the teams have raised the bottom of the nose to increase clean airflow across the floor of the chassis so in order to meet the maximum height rules they simply stepped down the top. Mostly so the driver can see where the hell they are going!!! Unfortunately the solution is UGLY but effective, I also notice the Frontal area was extremely reduced by this exercise in UGLINESS!!! I fear we entered a era where the Rules have Choked the Designers so severely that they have no choice but to do what it takes no matter the aesthetics's!!!!!! get Used to It more will surely Follow!!! In the interest of cost-cutting they have turned in their CAD systems and are using LEGOS! :-}
