With all these great decals from Michael and the price of a C1 84 March nearing the 200 buck mark, isn’t it about time some of you resin guys started putting out some 1: 18 scale kits? I would buy a bunch. Now that Replicarz are started to do their models in resin this looks like the future of 1: 18 Indy Cars?

Hey there don’t get on your high horse. This was only a suggestion not a demand and anyway If any of you guys had put a good 1:18 scale car I for one would have probably bought it just as I have with all the resin AR Marquettes cars...
...as for accuracy these are toys we are talking about not the real thing!!!

Bill,
Not everybody is a model builder so why come down on the guy that collects diescasts as lazy? That's like saying anybody that eats Chinese food is a communist.
As I recall you drive a foreign truck. Does that make you un-American?
Your rant makes no sense at all to me. People don't buy 1/18th diecast Indycars in order to "stick it" to Bill Jorgensen. They buy because maybe they can't or don't enjoy building models.
1/18th is my scale of choice but I have also spent money with both you, Lance and Calvin. I don't do it often because 1/25th is not my scale of choice but sometimes I just gotta have a certain car. (Example - 72 Parnelli, 67 Hawk and 82 Wildcat)
Roy isn't asking you to sell out, nor is he asking you not to stop producing 1/25th. He is merely saying that a resin 1/18th kit would be cool. If there was a 1/18th kit available I would be all over it several times.

I started out building the 1/25 scale cars, but switched to 1/18 because I liked their size better. If someone did make 1/18 resins, I would buy a lot of them.

Stu,
I have the parts that turn the 57 winner into the 58 winner if someone would make the molds. Only a few pieces. C-1was going to to the second Belond winner but.........

I master, and cast 1/43 Indy cars....I typically charge $50 per mold and I can usually get all parts cast in 4-5 molds....the longevity of molds is usually about 30 pieces/pours before the integrity starts to decay. To cast a Carousel knockoff would take a considerable amount silicone rubber. You can get it in 10lb kits for around $110....just guessing but it would probably take at least 3 buckets of silicone to cast an 84 March. After all is said and done the price point on a resin 1/18 kit would easily approach $200....look at the price of MFH, etc resin kits not cheap.....it's just not practical in such a small niche market. Casting is not difficult...you do need some initial investment in equipment and your going to have a learning curve. My suggestion would be to give it try.....buy an 1984 March tear it apart...make the molds...and give it the old college try as they say.

Its people like you that give this hobby a bad name just because you don’t like die cast. Just take a chill pill and as for accuracy these are toys we are talking about not the real thing!!! .......how much more effort would have been involved to actually move a line on a drawing so that a mclaren, coyote, or eagle tub was more accurate? while i give carousel credit for doing some really nice work in the area of an engine, suspension, and overall appearance, some of the design flaws that i noted were just plain obvious to some and cheapened the product in the end imo...
