Yes, a Rascar built by Eldon Rassmusen, between 1973 and 1979, not much success but Eldon did qualify one on the last row for the 74, 76 & 79 Indy 500 no info on were it placed right now.. it broke every year and he gave up after 1979, there reason the photo description says Foyt is it did run a Foyt engine every year. DNQ's in 73,75,77,78 should tell the story.... Chris

Eldon is a fellow Crazy Canuck. He was inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 2001. I believe the Rascar began life as a McLaren or at the very least was a direct copy.

It probably was a copy. I seem to recall that he did a great deal of work on other's cars and then began building his own. Some of the other Indy builders in this era, Dave Laycock, Grant King, did some really clever take-offs and built some fast cars. I like the idea of having builders and mechanics who were able to bring some of their own into the fray.

The car began life as an Atlanta chassis. The 75 qual. shot shows it in much of the configuration as it ran in 72 (radiators, cockpit shroud, nose). Rascar is what Eldon called it after he got a hold of it. Foyt also had an Atlanta as a team car in 73 (non qualified) and in 74 (Ziggy qualified in it). Foyt set the car up with a sport scar nose rather than front wings. Mel Kenyon made his last attempt at Indy in 77 driving an Atlanta (Boyd Robson spl.)
