One of my first heros was Tony B. The best way to start IMO "] YES! you almost got it, the reason why it didn't work is some of your "img" in your codes were missing brackets [ img ] you need both brackets on both sides of the [ img ] But at the end of the day just simply left click, yes left click the IMG code and that will copy it for you on your Photobucket page. Then come over here and do the normal right click and paste.

I will try a couple more [/img] [/img] Grind out the grill and fill the cockpit side. Also get rid of the large vent.

Bob's drawing shows a louvered panel under the tail. I will try to duplicate that. A hood blister to make room for the canted engine. Take a look at your code when you paste it. When you paste it from Photobucket its already to go, it already has your [ IMG ] codes in the front and in the back already. This is what your code should look like This is what your code looks like so get rid of these extra [ img ] codes Like I said all you have to do is copy and paste because photobucket has it already to go for you. But at the end of the day just simply left click, yes left click the IMG code and that will copy it for you on your Photobucket page. Then come over here and do the normal right click and paste.

Well, I'm thrilled you can share your builds with us now!
Before this thread, I had absolutely no idea what kind of a builder you, now I know. I can already tell you know what you're doing. Its looking good.
The Kurtis kit is a fun one to put together. The one thing that I dont like about it is the ride height, especially in the rear. On my 1955 Hopkins Spl. you my have noticed I glued the rear axle in the normal way. But later on I raised up the rear axle to lower the car.

Nice work so far. What you're doing with the wheels and tires is interesting. As Calvin noted the kit has a decided hot rod rake that can be corrected by mounting the axle slightly higher than intended.

great wip so far, forgive my ignorance, but the roadster era at Indy is not my Forté. This ride of Tony B, is it the same team that won the 51 "500" with Wallard? Cars look very similar, especially the numbers.

You are correct that this is the same team/car owner that won Indy in 1951 with Lee Wallard. Murrell Belanger was a prominent car owner at Indy from 1947-1956. I don't think he came back to Indy after Tony Bettenhausen crashed this Kurtis 500D during the 1956 race. Gordon Eliot White's book "Indianapolis Racing Cars of Frank Kurtis" has an account and pictures of every Indy car that Frank Kurtis built. I have found it really helpful in tracing the history of these cars. Jim

Cars look very similar, especially the numbers. Yep, Belanger was a car and farm equipment dealer from Crown Point Indiana. He ran cars at Indy for several years. It was a much different world, back then. I met Tony B when I was a child. As I recall, he was a farmer who drove as a sideline. Most teams, at that time were One car and one mechanic. Owners were guys that were in racing as a hobby. As I said, a different world. Take Care Craig

Mr. Belanger purchased his first Indycar in 1934 and was a continuous entrant from then on. I do not know when and why his efforts at Indy ceased. By the way, anyone know the paint code for this blue? It's a Chrysler color, yes?

I will be using Tamiya TS55. Take Care Craig

I believe Michael knows exactly what color that car should be. I remember it being a Chrysler factory color, since Mr. Belanger was a dealer for them. It's worth checking.

Trevor That car has made me want to smash it many times. Looking back, it would have been faster to start with a block of wood. After all the putty to get the shape close, it looks too big. Right now, my plan is to rough cast the body and cut it up to shrink it before doing the finished master. The reason I continue is that Jimmy Bryan was one of my childhood heros, and once finished it should not be too hard to convert it to this.

By the way, anyone know the paint code for this blue? It's a Chrysler color, yes? After looking at the awesome painting info that Michael has, Tamiya TS-51 Racing Blue. Which IMO looks the best for the Belanger Spl. www.indycals.net/faq/paint.html
