It was called the Simoniz Spl. in '62 returned in '63 as the Fiberglas Spl. Curtis Turner put it in the fence after spinning in another cars oil during practice. It had four wheel independent suspension but it had a design feature that would lay the wheels over slightly to the left in the turns. Yunick's idea was to try to lean the car through the turns, as a motorcycle would. It was given the nickname 'the left turn.'

I don't know why it didn't work, but I sure wish the system encouraged that sort of out of the box thinking at today's Speedway. Just sayin', ya know. . . . .
