Speed is reporting that Newman-Haas racing will close it's doors for good Dec. 31. Servia & Hinchcliff are now looking for a ride.

This off season sucks..... guess that what happens when only 500,000 people can watch the race on TV. although many will see this as a bad omen for indycar, racing as a whole is getting its junk kicked right now.

That's bad news I just went to their website and bought a cap. I figure it will be collectors item someday.

This is really sad for many reasons. I would guess Paul's passing and Carl's health played into it. But I never saw this coming.

Stuboyle, It will be a collector's item on Jan 1, 2012.
I also saw that Lotus is selling their Indycars for 50K each. They are expensive flower pots now, not good for much more.

AA should hire Hinch for the GoDaddy ride. He's the best personality/talent combo for what GoDaddy was looking for. Not sure where Servia could go but if D&R is really getting serious with the Lotus deal then maybe there.

Indeed they can be proud. Paul and Carl had a good thing going, but Paul is gone and Carl is not getting any younger. Plus, when Mario retired and Michael went to form his own team, the driving soul seemed to go a bit as well. Of course, I think a bit of that Newman Haas magic really began to go when Ganassi got successful and replaced Newman Haas as the primary foil in Roger Penske's backside.
Thanks for the memories!

I have to agree with the points above as to their demise, they just have not had a lot of sponsor dollars since the unification. I think Paul's passing had a lot to do with that - what a great team and so stout for decade after decade. Newman Haas will be missed on the grid! Jordan
