Please forgive me, but once in awhile I work with something that has fenders. I’ve got 1/24th scale Chaparral 2C and 2D projects for which I’m looking for Hilborn injected Chevy 327 V8 engines. Both of these projects are going to be curb side, so I just want to have the top of the engine visible. I’m looking for advise on what old kits would have a engine like this (might have to work with 1/25th) that I can go looking for on EBay. My brain is getting old and tired. Old dragster kits maybe? I appreciate any help or suggestions. Paul Erlendson

Could an engine and FI set-up out of one of the Monogram sprint cars be back-dated to look right? Probably the most plentiful FI SB Chevy engine out there! And 1/24 to boot!

This is a tough one Paul!
I searched EABY thinking there has to be a model kit that offered a 327 engine. All I came up with was a 1/24th scale Corvette diecast. Probably fuel injected but you could use the block. Bad news it's $50 for the diecast. Item # 370535456849

Too bad you need 1/24 scale because I have a bunch of Revell 283 Parts Pack engines but they are 1/25 and are very detailed inc the injection set up... Chris

All SB Chevies look basically identical on the outside, so don't restrict yourself to only 327's!

You could also do the 67 version of the 2D with a 427 Chevy, if that's any easier to find.

That's exactly why the parts pack engine would be great, it comes with seperate block, heads, intake, oil pan, bellhousing, trans, water & fuel pump and it has a cool FI set up. The difference in almost all small block Chevys is bore and stroke the blocks are all basically the same.. I started one for my F5000 Eagle Chevy project and it looks great. Gotta get back to that sometime.... Chris

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, but I am open to a 1/25th scale engine as so little of it will be seen. A Revell 283 Parts Pack engine would be fine, but I don't see any fuel injection, just a carb or blower option. Paul Attachments:

Paul, I see my memory is getting warped also, Revell used these same trees in many kits and the FI option was added. If you would like one I can pull some parts boxes and find one for you. I am still not fully mobile since my procedure a week ago so if you are not in a hurry... I can get you one. I am pretty sure I have one here at home, if not I will have to make a trip to storage and that might take some time. I am so use to scratchbuilding my own. I will let you know in a day or so... Correct me if I am wrong, but the 2C and 2D along with the 2E all used a GM version of the Weber IDA carbs. You could replicate this setup with the manifold from the MPC 57 flip nose gasser or the AMT Grant King sprinter and some IDA's from Replicas an Miniatures of Maryland.

The absolutely perfect Webers are to be found in the LS version of the Arii 2C. That kit is an upgrade of the Arii kit and includes the Modleer's 2D chassis, interior, wheels, tires and the Webers.
