Poll time from most recent Formula Nippon race 1:35.012. Fast lap from Indycar practice session #1: 1:39.475
The Indycar times are pretty slow at the moment compared to Formula Nippon. Hopefully the gap will come down quite a bit.

LOL thats funny! What a joke. Once the radiation sets in the cars should go faster. I'm glad they aren't going over there anymore.....but it might not help as they most likely will go to Red China. If that happens well all I can say is good luck Indycar hope you can find some fans over there. I used to waste time thinking and talking about what Indycar should or shouldn't do......I long gave up and I frankly dont give a shoot anymore.

These are old cars with a very restrictive rules package, running at low RPM's on whatever tires Bridgestone feels like bringing. It should come as no suprise that they are not as fast as more up to date equipment. Indycar wants everyone in a tight pack, and lots of contact. Since they use SMASHCAR at a model, they seem to think that's what "fans" want. Take Care Craig

I don't know, they had a pretty good sized crowd in Japan from what I could see on the broadcast. The Japanese are crazy about racing and I like the international flavor visits to places like Japan give to the Indycar series.

We also have to remember that the Formula Nippon guys know the course, I don't think the Indy car drivers have ever used the road course before.

There apple is quicker than our orange. Though, after watching the race, it didn't seem like the tires were not working well at all. If the Nippon guys had tires which work better, that could account for a significant difference in lap time.

At least 2 of the drivers where very familiar with the course. These are pro drivers. They should be able to come to a new circuit and be up to speed pretty quickly.

Why tape delay the broadcast until Sunday afternoon?
