I was watching the Indy Lights race at Baltimore earlier today and I did a double take when I saw the name "Ribbs" on the ticker. I'm thinking "nawww, it can't be Willy T Ribbs". But sure enough it was. I was surprised seeing the 56 year old back in a car again. He retired with 5 laps to go because as he termed it, he was "out of gas" (he was, not the car). But apparently he is thinking about trying to do an Indycar race or two soon once he gets back in shape so he can officially retire from racing at the wheel of an Indycar. I can remember with WTR was the great racer from the IMSA days. Too bad he never found much success in an Indycar, but it is nice to know that is still his first love even though he spent a year or two also driving the Craftsman trucks.

Willy T. was magic in the Roush Mustangs/Capris/Merkurs and the AAR Celicas. Always thought he was good for the sport.
One year younger than me - you go Willy! One for the AARP crowd.

I remember the day he qualified for the 500, that was one of the best bump days ever.

Hell, if he could have hung on until the finish, I think he would have been around 9th.
