Hi everyone... call me "drums01". I've Been modeling and collecting die-cast for over 40 years. I've been an IPMS member and national contest competitor years past but nothing recently. I build now for personal enjoyment. I like and collect open wheel as well as other types of automobiles new and old, plastic, resin, and die-cast. I like 1/18 but I also have quite a few in other scales.
Currently I am working on an old Bandai kit in 1/14 scale of the Lola that Graham Hill won Indy with (Red Ball Transit). It has needed all kinds of rework and scratch building to make it accurate. for example I have already removed the AA toy battery box from the cockpit and created a realistic one to include and accurate seat, fuel pods, cowling, bulkheads, etc. The original kit was very basic so additional scratch building will be needed for the dash cluster, offset the right side wheels and suspension, create new rear shocks from scratch, create the gear selector, plumb the engine, build some disc brakes, create the fuel cell filler areas, new roll bar, etc, etc. Michael at Indycals is making an accurate race day set of decals for it. Perhaps I can get some pictures added to show my work in process and the final product.
Enough about me and my current project, tell me about the site and introduce yourself. I'm looking forward to connecting with new friends of mutual interests.
Happy modeling and collecting!

Welcome. I've always wondered about Bandai kits. It sounds like you've modified every part of this kit, I can't wait to see it. And yes, it is nice to have a lady on board.

Is the kit 1/14 or 1/16? I always thought they were 1/16.

WELCOME. Maybe I'm getting old but I was really more interested in the WIP photos of the Hill car.

Michael is correct in the the Graham car I'm working on from the Bandai kit is actually 1/16th scale... not 1/14th.
