Always thought this was a cool car, it was replaced early in the season by the Eagle.

This car sat on the pole in the spring Trenton race with Mario driving. I was on Tom Sneva's crew and we qualified second. I have some shots of this car somewhere.

Lance, I must have missed this one before but here are some B&W pics of the 74 Parnelli before the team switched to an actual Eagle. The team was still using the old Parnelli wheels from the 72 & 73 years also. After I get my abundance of wealth, i'm going to buy my own Mill and Lathe along with a few other Machining tools, and I'm going to build full scale 1:1 Models (mainly curbsides just becuase I'm not that good ). The only reason why I build small stuff right now is well the price is 1/25.

Interesting. I confess that I was not familiar with this car. Looks to me like a Eagle conversion project for Stu!

It would actually be a very easy shape to pull off in the scratch building world.

I have thought about doing this one in 1/18th but if so it would be way down the list. Here is a pic of the car at Trenton from the AR1 site. Stu [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/mario4-74trenton1.jpg" img]

Am I correct that this car never raced at Indy?

What were the issues that the team abandoned it?

That little kick up in front of the left rear is very similar to what much later cars were using. Interesting. Also interesting it's only on the left. In the race pics it looks like they cut down a piece for the kick up: now it only says "stone" without the "Fire". Very cool. I never even knew it existed. MJ

I found this photo today and was shocked to learn that this photo was taken during the Rex Mays 150 at Milwaukee on June 9th after Indy! I had thought that Parnelli had scraped this car before Indy. Love the huge oil cooler! I may have to make this car in 1/18th.

As Gordon once told me, a chassie is nothing more than a platform for a radiator!
This was a rare sighting at Indy in 1974. I only saw it once and it was sitting inside Gasoline Ally. I never saw it on the track, so if they did run it, it was before school let out!
Were in the world are the radiators? I know they are in the sides, but thy are not being fed air very well. Im sure this engine ran hot.
Neat photo (s)

I live in Lafayette, IN. If you still need measurements and pictures I would love to go over and take a look at this. Were in the He ll does he live. I think something like this would get around town. I have lived here my whole life and never heard of such a thing. PM if I can be of any help. I would love to meet the guy. Far as things go I may know of him but just did not know he has an Indy car.
