Looks great!
Do you think TS-24 would be close?
Also is TS-47 anything bright?

TS16 is the brightest yellow by Tamiya, with the exception of their dayglo yellow in the MS series (which would be the correct yellow). Not sure how good TS24

I found this paint at Hobby Lobby. In person it looks alot closer to the photos of Buddy's car that I have. It's Krylon Short Cuts SCS-074 Iris. Still have to add the yellow wings in front of the radiators, and finish the helmet. For my limited skills, I'm very happy with the results. Attachments:

OK, for the answer everyone has been seeking...what is the best color for this car. I have spent the last couple of weeks trying different colors and matching them up to the engine cover from 2002 and the rear wing element from 96/97. TS-24 looks pretty close but is actually too bright. The best color match is the Krylon Short Cuts SCS-074 Iris. It is a dead on match to the 02 engine cover and almost a perfect match to the 96 wing element. Just in the mixing of the paint between the years could be just a little diffent due to variants in paint mixing in the 1:1 scale. I have only been able to find this paint at Hobby Lobby as mentioned before. The best part is it is only $3.27 for a 3oz. spray can.
Now finally back to my full detailed project of this car that I started over a year and a half ago.

Thanks for the info! No one knows better than you when it comes to Lazier cars. I'm looking forward to seeing your build! I'll most likely go with the Tamiya TS-24 since I already have a can (that didn't realize I had the other day) I'd normally try to get the match close but I'd rather stay in my Tamiya comfort zone.
