Here is my 2011 Dan Wheldon Winner in 1/18th scale so far. I have a few more decals to add before the clear coat is applied. I also used Model Master (Testors) Racing Orange. It goes on fairly nice but dries totally flat. Had to make all the regular mods to get the Greenlight more acurate. Front wing moved back, body work at front suspension, new camera. New mirrors and exhaust ports will come later. Michael's decals are again excellent as usual. The vinyl decals as I stated before take a little to get used to but work out very well. Burnished them down and let them sit a few hours before trying to peel the top cover off. Calvin, you are correct!!! Clear coat does not work over the chrome decals and will destroy all your work!
Michael PM'ed me just in time so I removed the chrome stripes but forgot about the number 98 on the nose! I was able to save the car but I will need to get a replacement nose # from Michael when I get back from vacation next week.
Thanks guys!

Stu and Calvin,
I have a question. I have never used chrome decals before. I do not use clear I use Future instead. Should I still wait until after putting on the Future to put on the chrome decals.

Hey Eric. I don't know for sure but I would say no. The chrome is very slick and I don't believe anything will stick to it.

Eric I dont know about future but I've blown up my share of chrome or gold decals over the years when I used to build only nascar models. It doesn't matter what decal manufacture it is S27, cartograf ...ex Gold or chrome blow up.

IMS had Wheldon signing today at Brickyard but didn't bother to tell anyone. I was REALLY upset about that.

Stu, You got kicked in the nads like I did. I made the Sato & TK St. Pete then Greenlight came out with their own. If they could only make them like I made mine but they're using the same old tooling. Theirs are carpet runners. Yours looks great.

Still working away on my Wheldon after messing up the chrome decals. Michael was grasious enough to send me a replacement nose decal that I hope to have any day now. In the meantime I have been working on my figure. Still need to tackle the helmet but it's getting there. This time I added a wicker bill down the engine cover as well as the front. Then the little winglets and the rest of the normal mods. I used the model master floro orange and hated every minute of it. I should have known that Testors doesn't make anything good. Stu ! Why was a Wicker Bill put dow the front of the car and the Engine Cover ? I never saw these pieces before. Did you use a new Inlet/Camera piece as well as the correct mirrors? Did you make them yourself. I think I saw a tutorial on how you did it about a 18 months ago. Would you still have it to send to me please. You also had to move the front wing back a bit correct ? I see the mods you made to the body around the front suspension. Nice Job !!! Dan would be Honored. Please let me know. Thank you, Robby

Robbie, the wicker bills were put on because they are on the real car. Same with the transponder box and little winglets in front of the cockpit and top of right side pod. I don't always add the wicker bills. It just depends on how far I want to go on the detail. Yes, the camera and mirrors were corrected and pretty much went all out on this one.
I may have lost some of my tutorials when I switched computers. I will look for you and if found I will forward to you.
