OK, not F1, but it fits here better than in Indycar. Decals for the Tamiya 1/18 scale McLaren M8A Can-Am car that was re-issued last year. Although the kit decals were done by Cartograph, they are virtually useless as the numbers and lettering on the sheet is black - in reality they were blue. The Cartograph sheet is also missing the g@@dye@r markings. www.indycals.net/decals/canam/68mclarenm8a.html

Michael, I had been trying to avoid buying one of those kits, but with correct decals I am going to have to break down and get one to go with my 1/18 Lola T160 and Nissan R381 by Tamiya.. Thanks Chris

Given the age of the kit, it's not one of Tamiya's best. But I will say this - it was light years ahead of what other manufacturers were putting out at the time.
I also added a 1/18 scale option for my blue ring tire decals specifically for this kit.

Chris - I built an original way back when. My skills weren't the best, but thanks to Tamiya's quality, I was able to make it look pertty good. It was my first Can-Am build and it still sits in my case. The kit is motorized, with a simplified but working suspension front and rear, poseable steering, so-so tires but body-wise it looks great. I wasn't going to bother building a re-issue but now with Michael's decals I'm thinking maybe!

Chris, I'm working on my Lola right now, and like you feel compelled to get the McLaren. Michael, you wouldn't consider some 1/18 scale F***s****s for the Lola would you? The kit came with tires that are all wrong.

Michael, How about a Gurney Lola T160 Olsonite set? that could also be used to do a Gurney Olsonite McLeagle ? Mind Blowing Huh!!!! One set to do a conversion on Both kits!! I have been on the look out for a 1/18th Ford engine for them and will probably scratchbuild one.... Hmmm cast it? Either way I will do a detail build and make a bunch of stuff for both. Chris

Cool, I can now rebuild the M8A I originally built in 1970.

Great timing. I just got a correct set of wheels from GMP for this kit.
