Chris,
Is this a 1/24 model? Does it have a 3-view of the car in the instructions. If so can you scan it for me? Hope all's well.

OT: I actually had dinner with Linda Vaughn after this year's Indy 500. She's as personable as ever, but she's really let herself go. Apparently she had a heart attack earlier this year.

Patrick, Here is the same sticker on a 77 M23 it is a Race engine prep company that most of the top DFV runners used in the 70's and 80's I have also seen another that is white or silver also a engine prep company, kinda like VDS..here in the USA, This one came from my stash and showed in my research.. Looks very nice! I wouldn't have the patience to do something with that much detail on a 1/20

Linda still looks pretty good considering that she was born in 1943!!!!!! And still charming as ever.

Thanks Chris. I'll put something on my BT44B cam covers. My engine won't be as detailed as yours...sparse in fact.
Nice to hear people that are in the spotlight like Linda are nice personable folk. It's what makes racing a pleasant experience. I remember meeting Denny Hulme at the '66 CanAm and he was the same way to me. A right nice chap.

Happy to hear that Denny was a nice guy. I became a fan at Elkhart Lake in '67 at the beginning of the Bruce and Denny show. Saw him several times but never spoke to him.
I always thought his exit from this earth was the perfect way to go. A heart attack while racing. What a full life.

Man! If that's the engine, what's the rest of the car gonna be like? I think you autta put it on the dyno and see what kinda horsepower you got in that thing! Great job Chris!

I am at a stall right now, the sway bar and links are giving a pause as I dont like the links, not to my standard, so I either get over it or scratchbuild a set. The Radius rods are also on my list. I have been hard at thought on the suspension side mounting bracket, wanting to use stainless tubing for the rods themselves.. Hopefully pics in a day or two.. Chris

Thanks Guys, I started cleaning up and preparing the all metal front suspension today, and realized I have to paint the Tub/Body before I go too much further. I am looking at the suspension and writing down ideas to improve it, well I should say bring it up to my spec... It is a fabulous out of the box transkit but how could I build an engine and trans like this and put it on a box stock anything? Chris

Progress and Problems!!!! I made mounting brackets for the radius rods, I took a very small dia. square stock and grooved it with a xacto and mini file to make a U channel then shaped into brackets, used some stainless thinwall tubing and RB hardware and Bingo Radius Rods.. [imghttp://images116.fotki.com/v617/photos/6/1081966/9904323/102_0165-vi.jpg][/img] I attached the engine to the base plate of the tub and checked the fit, no problem, then when I set the top of the body on, the back sits up just under 1/8 th and there is no room to cut or adjust anything.. Being resin I will have to think about this.. I may just continue and show it with the top of the body off.. which is probably the way I would show it anyway!! Frustrating Though!!! I have started to clean up the front suspension, but I am also stalled on painting the tub, I usually use Tamiya fine white primer as a base, but none is available anywhere... I have several fine white primers by other manufacturers but I am hesitating to try them. I may have to do some test pieces and report back... Chris

Beautiful work as ever. Have you any idea why the top of the body doesn't fit? I have the same kit and I don't want to displayit with it off.
BTW in your last post the firs image isn't showing. A bracket is missing on the img in the URL for it.

I learned to preview all my messages to check for images, and I re-did that url second pic down so the pic is on there... Yeah the height of the engine/cam covers hits the rear deck? I haven't compared the Tamiya part with the E. Jan / Model Factory Hiro transkit part yet but I did thin it out and got it down a slight amount, I also moved the spark plug wires a bit.. I will let you know what I come up with... Chris

Yesterday at 4:00 pm I sent MFH an email about the body not sitting down and to my surprise Kyosho Hiro sent me a list of things to check to get the body to fit by 8:00pm, half I had already checked but I sent him pics of what I had assembled so far, He like my engine and drivetrain. I had heard Hiro doesnt get back to you very quickly but in about 4 hours I would say Thats Fast! Well on to checking more fit areas.. Chris

I TOTALLY understand your frustration with the cowl fit, but PLEASE keep going and display it off the car, it would be a crying shame to keep all that detail covered up! We modelers want evreything to be perfect but even real racecars aren't! Super job so far!
