See your "early '74 Eagle F5000" thread in the General and there they are! I like the difference in scoop styles used. Your decal sheet will help me finish my Jorgensen Eagle project...can I buy one when you're ready? I've got to have the early car to go along with Lunger's car.

Thanks Patrick. It's nice to be reminded of how much I LOVED F5000. Why this series and the cars is so neglected is beyond me.

Is that Chris Amon in the Norris car? That looks like Long Beach. I was there but don't remember Amon racing. Tony Brise was the star that day. So sad what happened not long after.
Fantastic shots. If I were wealthy (and smaller) I would run F5000 cars in historic racing. The cars were beautiful and the sound was like nothing this side of Can-Am.

Chris was involved in a road car accident the night before the race, the car he was in was T boned, so he didn't start. F5000 cars do run in historic racing. USA, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand are all running F5000 in historic racing. In New Zealand we have been getting 20+ car fields, with nearly 40 cars when our summer series is on with visiting cars.

The Talon was not supposed to be a copy of the McRae GM2, but it sure looks like it to me. Sam Posey drove the Norris car in the series.
Grahame McRae's M10b #22 has red line Goodyears...I wonder what's the story on that? And I think that's him with a coffee cup(tea?) standing behind the wing(before he grew the sideburns).

Patrick Graham McRae sold the manufacturing rights for the GM2 and the car became the Talon. McRae was supposed to drive the Talon in the USA series, but that fell through and he continued with his own GM2 that was developed over a few seasons and morphed into later GM versions. There is a bit more politics to it than that, but that is the gist. Yes that is Graham with the cuppa, I think those red lines may be Firestones, I will have to check that out.

For us left-coasters interested in seeing these awesome cars run, I just came across some info. CSRG is having a vintage event at Infineon on Sept. 30 - Oct. 2. Lotus is the featured mark. The F5000 registry says that they are participating too, even though it's not mentioned on the CSRG website. Now, just hoping for some clear weather, not the monsoon the June Vintage event suffered through. www.infineonraceway.com/schedule/complete_schedule/csrg_october/www.f5000registry.com/home.html

Thanks Flyingkiwi! I'm collecting parts now for a Norris Talon with Sam Posey up.
On a side note, I just read in Archaeology magazine that Maori battle cloaks made from Kiwi feathers are providing archaeologists with an insight into the warrior cloak tradition and the area where it may have begun by using the DNA from the feathers and comparing them to the DNA of modern birds. That's my kind of stuff I like, too!
