After much watching from outside, I signed up. Have been building models forever starting with a balsa wood B-36 held together with scotch tape advancing to Monogram cars and planes using tube glue and hand painting. Going to Watkins Glen summers during high school focused my attention on sports cars and Grand Prix races in 64 and 65 were a high point. Road and Tracks' Henry Manney articles were a great text book. Lots of AMT Lotus Fords , IMC Lolas, Chapparals and Ford GTs and MPC Eagles and Lotus turbines built OOB and used as parts for scratch projects led to the beginning of a collection. Add in kits of IMSA, CanAm, LeMans and the discovery of resin suppliers and now I am well and truly hooked. Current projects are the Etzel Kuzma Champ car, Andretti 67 Hawk and Watson roadster by Lance, and rebuilding a dropped (grrr) Jorgenson 69 Hawk.

Glad to have you aboard! Most of here share your enthusiasm for plastic in general! However, when it comes to Open Wheel, this is the site! I share your pain on dropped models, I haven't finished the story yet on my PC-23, the last chapter isn't written yet. Please share pictures of your finished kits with us.

Well hmmph. I've never been called a lucky ducky before, much less in CAPS! ;D Yeah that was cool- all of us 16 year old racing experts were put off a little by the non-redness of the Fazzaz, but it looked as fast as anyone and it was Surtees after all. I mistyped 65 when in fact it was the 63 GP I attended. That was the one where Clark had a glitch at the start putting him a half lap back. I was in (then existing wood ) bleachers at the loop after the front straight. Just a loop, no chicane for the GP guys at that time. The field roars through on the first lap- where's Clark? The sound of the pack recedes, a single car is heard approaching. Clark came into view visibly faster than we had seen the others and seemed to brake much deeper into the approach to the turn. And he did that the whole race. Finishing third. Talk about impressionable youth- I was one.

Anyone that uses the term Fazzaz is my age , read every Sports Car Graphic they could lay their hands on, and knows what I think of those past years as REAL racing! Again welcome.

Another modeler/fan of "a certain age" - welcome!
I too built all of those kits, read Manney religiously ("yer fthful srvnt" - or something like that) and saw my hero Jim Clark win Indy in '65.
My favorite cars and races have always been the next one, but I have to admit, particularly when it comes to open wheel, cars and drivers from back then were simply more interesting.
Enjoy! Mark
